Six weeks before he was set to graduate from the United States Naval Academy, Joseph Steffan resigned. Thus started a seven-year legal battle over this dismissal which was related to his sexual orientation. In 1993, a three-judge panel ruled in favor of Steffan and order him reinstated. In 1994, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia upheld the dismissal. The collection documents the lawsuit and outcomes as well as the personal and professional impacts on Mr. Steffan.

Individual branches of the United Way work within local communities to meet their needs. Within this collection are examples of allocation work done by the United East of Eastern Fairfield County to meet Bridgeport's needs in the late 1970s.

The Arthur A. Cohen Papers provide evidence of the writing, editing, and publishing career of Arthur Allen Cohen between 1940 and 1986. The Papers consist of correspondence, writings, personal papers, photographs, audiovisual material, legal and financial documents, and clippings relating to Cohen's writing, publishing companies Noonday Press and Meridian Books, and work editing the Documents of Twentieth Century Art series for Viking Press. Cohen's interest in theology (particularly Judaism) and art are also reflected in the Papers, particularly his writing and publishing projects.

The collection consists of correspondence, writings, notebooks, sketchbooks, audiovisual materials, printed materials, and other papers by or relating to poet Kevin Opstedal. It documents his work as a poet, as well as his research interest in the poets of Bolinas, California.

The papers consist of photocopies of United Nations documents used in the writing of Javier Pérez de Cuéllar's memoirs, Pilgrimage for Peace: A Secretary-General's Memoir. His biography recounts his two terms as United Nations Secretary-General, focusing on those issues and countries with which he had the largest personal involvement.

Administrative records of the Connecticut League for Nursing whose mission is to: foster partnerships between academic and clinical nursing leaders; facilitate access to formal nursing education programs in the State of Connecticut; provide affordable, accessible, and contemporary continuing education programs and forums; and support the National League for Nursing's initiatives related to Nurse Faculty Development, Nursing Research and Nursing Workforce Demographics (from CLN mission statement).
