Nine diaries written by Harold Thomas Fuller Husted (1883-1956) while a Yale College student, 1904-1908, and as a graduate student, 1908-1909. Diaries are numbered 10 through 18. Also included are diplomas for his BA degree, 1908, and his master's degree, 1909. The diaries document Husted's college years in New Haven and summers at home in Westfield, NY with weekly entries. Husted consistently notes lectures; games; Yale sports, including baseball; undergraduate student life; epistolary relationships with women; the behavior of the family cat "Chimmie Fadden"; train travel; and the news.

Material includes correspondence; photographs, including movie stills and autographed photographs of John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Ethel Barrymore, and others; playbills, clippings, and other printed material; notes; scrapbooks; and other papers.

The papers consist of correspondence, writings, printed material, and other papers of Alfred Bingham, social reformer, writer, founder and editor of Common Sense, lawyer, and politician. Included are his personal papers, consisting of diaries, writings and correspondence, much of the latter being with individuals and organizations prominent in the reform movements of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1960s. Also included are the business and correspondence files of Common Sense, and files relating to various organizations with which he was associated. Correspondents of note include Paul Douglas, Charles Beard, Chester Bowles, Lewis Corey, John Dewey, Theodore Dreiser, Aldous and Julian Huxley, Henry Pratt Fairchild, Charles Merriam, John Haynes Holmes, Anne Lindbergh, Alexander Meiklejohn, Eleanor Roosevelt, Bertrand Russell, and Norman Thomas.

Brocklehurst family papers, 1871-1945

The papers consist of correspondence, estate papers, maps and other materials which document the purchase and management of the Vergelegen estate near the Lydenburg goldfields, Northern Transvaal, by the Brocklehurst family. Charles Brocklehurst had purchased Vergelegen in 1882, amidst rumors of gold and silver discoveries. The papers provide evidence of "gold fever" in the Transvaal, as well as, surveying practices, land transactions, and estate management in the Transvaal in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Papers documenting the activities of the Transvaal Land Owners' Association, of which E. H. Brocklehurst was a member, and the acquisition of the Kameelfontein estate in the Nylstroom district of the South African Republic are also included.

The club was organized at a "mass meeting and rally of college women," in Hartford on February 11, 1905, with its object "mainly social, philanthropic, or literary." Among its activities, the Club took a leading role in the establishment of the Spruce Street Settlement, later known as Mitchell House.

Arthur Joseph Pierpont was born 3 December 1876. He was a 1895 graduate of Storrs Agricultural College, now the University of Connecticut. A noted authority on agricultural matters, Mr. Pierpont was a member of the Waterbury Milk Producers Association, Trustee of his alma mater (Connecticut Agricultural College as of 1899) and manager of the College's Gilbert Farm, a working farm in Georgetown, Connecticut, bequeathed to the College in 1906.
