Former Hollywood actor who worked with Marlene Dietrich (Scarlet Empress) and Shirley Temple, John Davis Lodge was Republican Governor of Connecticut from 1951-1955. Brother of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge and grandson of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr.

An English immigrant to Bridgeport, John D. Cooper's interest in aviation saw him become an employee of the Curtiss Aeroplane Company in 1910. He traveled primarily in Europe to both sell planes to governments and train their aviators, doing so for four years until 1914.

The papers consist of correspondence, topical files, writings, and teaching files documenting John D. Thompson's work in public health, especially hospital administration and architectural design, and nursing administration.

The papers provide biographical information about John Dollard and insight into his experiences researching in the South. The papers include limited correspondence, the bulk of which concerns his family's attempts to arrange a reprinting of Caste and Class in a Southern Town during the 1980s, after Dollard's death. Writings consist of a scrapbook containing reviews of Dollard's work, a Yale Alumni Magazine with Dollard featured as part of an article about emeritus faculty, and booklets from the Humanities Research Series published by the University of Chicago during the 1920s.

Collection consists primarily of over 1000 letters to John Drinkwater from various persons, with six letters from Drinkwater (four of them carbons or drafts of letters), two manuscript poems ("Malediction" and "Spectral"), one essay ("Poetry of the Seventies") and one playscript, "Mary Stuart." Some letters addressed to Kathleen Walpole Drinkwater. Principal correspondents include Gordon Bottomley, Ernest De Selincourt, Arthur J. Gaskin,Edmund Gosse, E. V. Lucas, John Masefield, Alan Monkhouse, Harold Monro, Sir William Rothenstein, Albert Daniel Rutherston, and Joseph Southall. Collection accompanied by summaries of the letters to Drinkwater.
