This collection consists of documents and artifacts related to the Hartford Widows' Homes, an organization which provided housing for widows, from 1850 to 1929.
The Motherhood Club of Hartford was organized in 1896 by a group of young mothers "so burdened with the responsibilities of their lot that they chose to give their Club life to child problems rather than literary or social pleasures."
The Hartford Women's Center (HWC) was organized in October of 1977 to serve women of the city of Hartford. The goal was to create a network of organizations with resources for women. Newsletters and calendars were ways to reach out to the community. The HWC helped to establish the first Hartford Feminist Library in 1979. The collection consists of newsletters, minutes, flyers, photographs and slides and extensive correspondence.
The collection contains minutes, brochures, concert programs, photographs, accreditation/self-study reports, and other material documenting the Hartt School Community Division.
