The William A. Speck Collection of Goetheana: Theater Ephemera consists of eighteenth- through twentieth-century theater playbills, programs, broadsides, posters, and other ephemera documenting performances of plays, operas, magic and puppet shows, burlesques and lectures based on works by Goethe (primarily Faust) and other German and European writers and composers.

The papers consist chiefly of subject files maintained by Rannit, dating roughly from the 1950s to the 1980s. The subject files include correspondence, writings, photographs, and printed material that document Aleksis Rannit's life and work as an art and literary critic and Curator of the Slavic and East European Collections for the Yale University Library.

The Solidarity Information Office in Canada was opened in Toronto in 1981, and served as a satellite office of the Solidarity Coordinating Office Abroad in Brussels. Zygmunt Przetakiewicz was the director of the office from 1981 until 1983, and in 1983 Wojciech Gilewski was a director of the office until 1990, when it discontinued operation. The collection consists of extensive correspondence, reports, official publications, press releases and clippings. It covers the years from 1981 until 1990.

Elizabeth Wasiutynski has worked with various Polish and Solidarity organizations, including the Coordinating Office of NSZZ Solidarność (Solidarity), headquartered in Brussels, Belgium and the Connecticut Division of the Polish American Congress (PAC). She served as Director of the Poland Project at Central Connecticut State University and is a native speaker of Polish and English who has been qualified as a seminar interpreter by the U.S. Department of State. E. Wasiutynski worked closely with Jerzy Milewski, who was the Director of the Coordinating Office Abroad of NSZZ Solidarność in Brussels. He helped to set up pro-Solidarity organizations, including Solidarity International in New York. This collection consists of records related to E. Wasiutynski's work, including documents from the Coordinating Office Abroad of NSZZ Solidarność, the Polish American Congress, and other Solidarity support organizations.

Writings and correspondence by or relating to the I︠U︡shkevich brothers and their family. Includes family photographs, and corrected typescripts of stories, plays and screenplays in Russian and in translation.

Collection consists of black and white and color reproductions of Renaissance architecture. Section I includes Africa-Denmark. Content varies from original photographic prints to reproductions from magazines and other published sources. Some sections have accompanying clippings folders.

The office created, handled and distributed the official communications of the instituions with the public and press communities. These operations were transferred to the Athletic Communications Office and the University Relations Office (currently known as University Communications) in 1977-19782 and 2000, respectively.

The records consist of letterbooks, correspondence, gift accounts, financial papers, receipts, lists, and memoranda documenting the operations of the Yale University Press. Included are the files of John G. Ryden as director.

The William A. Speck Collection of Goetheana: General Ephemera is an artificial collection of miscellaneous, non-book materials long associated with the Speck Collection but previously uncataloged. The collection demonstrates how Goethe and his works entered into the popular culture in the late nineteenth century and early decades of the twentieth. The collection includes a few items relating directly to Goethe, such as pens that he used and his grandfather Textor's seal, as well as items intended for the tourist market, probably purchased in the streets of Weimar around the turn of the twentieth century. Printed ephemera in the collection includes inflation money from the 1920s, or "Notgeld," printed with quotations from Goethe and illustrations from his works; advertising trade cards and other advertising materials; posters; cigar boxes; matchbooks; stationery; postcards; photographs of actors in Goethe-related roles; and wall hangings. Three-dimensional items include figurines of characters from Faust, plaques featuring Goethe's image, a fragment of his house, pressed flowers from his garden, and a lock of Schiller's hair.

The records consist of documentation on the publication of works by individual authors. Josef Albers, Hiram Bingham, Harold Bloom, Ernst Cassirer, David Lloyd George, and Paul Rand are just a few of the authors with works documented in this collection.
