Correspondence, writings, and research files reflecting Kirby's interest in the history of engineering. Much of the material was gathered in connection with his book, Engineering in History, published in 1956. Important correspondents are Ludlow S. Bull, an Egyptologist, and his co-autors, Arthur B. Darling, Frederick G. Kilgour, and Sidney Withington.

Interview notes, correspondence, clippings, copies of court transcripts and briefs assembled by Richard Kluger for his book, Simple Justice: Brown vs. Board of Education. Kluger's interview notes, taken either in person or by mail, with over one hundred people make up the core of the collection. Especially full materials are available for Alexander Bickel, Hugo L. Black, Esther Brown, Linda Brown, John W. Davis, Felix Frankfurter, William H. Hastie, Kenneth B. Clark, Charles H. Houston, Thurgood Marshall, William H. Rehnquist, and Earl Warren. Kluger's copies of the correspondence files of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) relating to this case are also included in the collection, as are two unpublished manuscripts by Phyllis Kluger: an article, "A Short History of Education in the United States," and a book, A Long History of Negro Education.

Stephen Parks research collection on John Dunton, 1962-1972

Correspondence, research copies, and writings documenting Stephen Parks's research on John Dunton and the English book trade. Correspondents include Dunton scholars Robert Haig, S. Hodgson, Patricia Köster, and Gilbert McEwen, as well as the American Antiquarian Society, British Museum, Glasgow University Library, and the Union Theological Seminary Library. Research copies consist of photocopies and photostats of primary and secondary sources. Copies of primary sources include two volumes of Dunton manuscripts from the Bodleian Library, Ms Rawlinson D.71 and D.72; Dunton's will and that of his father, Rev. John Dunton; Dunton imprints; and legal papers. Copies of secondary sources include a Harvard University Ph.D. dissertation, "The True Secret History of Mr. John Dunton," by Theodore Merryman Hatfield, 1926. Also includes reprints of two papers by Parks, "John Dunton and The Works of the Learned," and "Bookseller's Trade Sales," both from the journal The Library, 1968 and 1969.

About two thirds of the correspondence was received by Blanchard Jerrold and by Adolphe and Alice Smith; letters to other recipients include several to Mrs. and Miss de Fonblanque.

Collection contains correspondence, writings, and personal papers documenting the life and professional activity of poet and playwright James Joseph Daly. Correspondence in the collection consists chiefly of incoming correspondence from writers, journal editors, publishers, and others, but also includes drafts and carbons of outgoing letters and writings and enclosures. Correspondents include Elizabeth Ames at Yaddo, Kenneth Burke, John Cheever, Padraic Colum, Malcolm Cowley at The New Republic, James T. Farrell, Robinson Jeffers, Alfred Kreymborg, Haniel Long, Archibald MacLeish, Henry Miller, Kenneth Rexroth, Lennox Robinson, and Thornton Wilder. Writings in the collection include drafts of plays, poems, and other writings, such as short essays, sketches, scenes of plays, reviews, notes, and school papers. Personal papers feature notebooks and material relating to the theater, including manuscript material, correspondence, and printed materials, such as playbills and clippings.

Polish Survivors of the Holocaust, an oral history project was initiated by Professor Stanislaus A. Blejwas from Central Connecticut State College and co-sponsored by the Association of Polish Priests in Connecticut. The project was funded by the Connecticut Humanities Council. Parts of the interviews were broadcast in a miniseries with Connecticut Public Radio. All interviews were transcribed. Collection contains documentation of the project, related correspondence, and various publications on Polish-Jewish relations and teaching the Holocaust. Collection illustrates experience of non-Jewish survivors of the Nazi concentration camps in World War II, who immigrated to the U.S. and lived in Connecticut.
