This list contains descriptions of and locator information for single manuscripts bound with books in the Osborn Collection.

Correspondence and writings documenting aspects of the scholarly career of Evelyn Spearing Simpson, particularly her work on a complete edition of the Sermons of John Donne. Correspondents include her Donne collaborator George R. Potter and his wife Mabel; friend and fellow Donne scholar Helen Gardner; and Mary Holtby. Writings include research notes, drafts, typescripts and proofs of most volumes of the Sermons edition; and drafts and typescripts of scholarly articles on Donne's work.

Irene Mix Root (1887-1949) was the genealogist for the Colonial Dames Society. These papers contain her genealogy notes and register files.

Bernhard Knollenberg's papers contain correspondence with historians and historical organizations; articles, books reviews, and notes; typescripts of letters from the colonial period; drafts, manuscripts, and notes for George Washington, the Virginia Period, 1732-1775; Origin of the American Revolution, 1759-1766; Growth of the American Revolution, 1766-1775; and miscellaneous notes.

The collection contains correspondence and professional files relating to Cornell's representation of Ezra Pound in the initial stages of the U.S. government's case against him for treason. In addition to Ezra and Dorothy Pound, correspondents include T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, James Laughlin, Arthur Moore, Omar Pound, Mary de Rachewiltz, and Olga Rudge. Topics include Pound's physical and mental condition in 1945-46; the treason charge against him; the efforts to have him declared mentally incompetent to stand trial; his court appearances; the use of the Alien Property Act against Dorothy Pound; and conditions at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
The collection also contains legal documents relating to the Pound case, including psychiatric evaluation reports; notices of court dates; material relating to a writ of habeas corpus prepared by Cornell in 1948; and transcripts of Pound's radio broadcasts from Rome.

The papers provide valuable documentation of the work of the American Baptist South China Mission, complementing the Foster Family papers and Campbell Family papers also located at Yale Divinity School Library. The Hildreths' experiences are representative of many American missionaries to China in the early part of this century. Substantive correspondence with family members and fellow missionaries documents their striving to reach the mission field, their initial impressions of China, family life in China, daily educational and evangelistic work, and the political unrest rampant in South China during their tenure. The intense anti-Christian movement in the mid 1920s is well documented. Ellison Hildreth served as a Baptist home missionary from 1910 until 1913. From 1913-1927, the Hildreths were American Baptist missionaries in South China. During a furlough from 1918-1919, Ellison Hildreth served with the YMCA in Siberia. From 1928-1949, he served as pastor of Federated Churches in Vermont and Connecticut.

The papers consist of personal and professional correspondence; family journals (1918-1949) of trips to Europe, China, Samoa, Java and Central America; and articles, book reviews and speeches on cultural anthropology (particularly on the Pacific), education, medicine, American race relations, and philanthropic institutions. Among Embree's professional papers are also financial statements and other materials relating to the Julius Rosenwald Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation and other philanthropies with which he was associated. Prominent correspondents include James Bryant Conant, Clarence Day, Harold Ickes, Esther Rauschenbush, Walter Reuther, John D. Rockefeller and Harold Taylor.

The collection contains English bookplates, dating roughly from the mid-18th to the mid-20th century.

The records consist of correspondence, reports, proposals, student essays and projects, and student files documenting the Yale Scholars of the House Program.
