The collection consists of correspondence and writings of American writer Harry Roskolenko. Correspondents include William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, Carl Sandburg, Katharine Anne Porter, John Dos Passos, Dwight Macdonald, William Saroyan, Wallace Stevens, Cleanth Brooks, Archibald MacLeish, Lewis Mumford, John Wheelwright, and James Laughlin, among other American poets, editors, critics, and publishers.
Writings include a manuscript poem titled "Perfidious Albion," a typescript play titled "Journey of Five (Of Whom Three Were One)," and a typescript article, "What Poets Do For a Living (A Study of the Poet and his Predicament)." The article summarizes the results of an income survey that Roskolenko sent to fellow poets in April 1949, and is accompanied by response forms from 22 poets. These include Langston Hughes, William Carlos Williams, and Mark Van Doren.

An artificial collection of publications and reports from major international exhibitions, 1867-1904. The Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, 1876, is a major component of the collection.

The collection consists of correspondence, writings, personal papers, and printed material documenting the career of Clarence Shepard Day. The collection provides insight into Day's work as an author, illustrator, and humorist, who often poked fun at upper class New Yorkers. The collection also documents Day's experience as an undergraduate student at Yale University in the late nineteenth-century. Correspondents include: Alfred A. Knopf and Vira Whitehouse.

The Hawthorne collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, and personal papers documenting the life and work of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Series I, Owen Franklin Aldis Gift, is organized into three subseries: Correspondence, Writings, and Other Papers. Correspondence consists of letters from Hawthorne to others, including the reverend George Ripley and the publisher Ticknor and Fields, as well as a third party letter from Hawthorne's son Julian. There is one corrected and bound holograph manuscript of Hawthorne's Doctor Grimshawe's Secret in the hand of Julian Hawthorne.
Series II, Norman Holmes Pearson Gift, is organized into three subseries: Correspondence, Writings, and Other Material. Hawthorne's outgoing correspondence is personal and professional in nature. Noteworthy correspondents include Hawthorne's daughter Una, English merchants Francis Bennoch and Henry Arthur Bright, Delia Bacon, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Franklin Pierce, Hiram Powers, and Charles Sumner. Incoming correspondence consists chiefly of letters from literary acquaintances, such as Mary Howitt, James Russell Lowell, Herman Melville, Donald Grant Mitchell, and William Wetmore Story. Writings includes several Hawthorne manuscripts and one holograph manuscript by Franklin Pierce. Other Material includes a commission for an armed ship bearing the signature of President John Adams.
Series III, Material from Other Sources, is organized into two subseries: Correspondence and Other Material. There are several letters from Hawthorne to others, including one to Horace Mann, and two engravings.

Miscellaneous autographs and letters of American political and cultural figures, among them John and John Quincy Adams, Daniel Webster, Jefferson Davis, Horace Greeley, and Lydia Sigourney. Also included are eleven letters to James F. Babcock, editor of the New Haven Weekly Palladium, on politics (1840-1866) and seven letters (1866-1872) to R. P. Cowles in New Haven from prospective lecturers.

The collection consists of correspondence and legal documents bearing the signatures of United States presidents, vice-presidents, cabinet members, and other historical figures. Portraits and photographs of the presidents complete the collection.

The papers consist of letters written by Clarence Day, many with ink drawings, to family and friends on personal matters and on business relating to the Class of 1896 of Yale University, of which Day was secretary. Also included is the record book of the Raleigh Pipe Club (1894-1907) and miscellaneous newspaper clippings.
