Diary, account book, financial and legal papers, and photocopies of material relating to the Towner and Tyler families of Branford, Connecticut. Solomon and Isaac Tyler's shipping interests and John Edwin Towner's Civil War diary are significant materials in the collection.

An artificial collection of material relating to the cities and towns of Connecticut, containing printed material, legal records, military papers, and miscellanea. Specific items include: deeds, indentures, leases, military commissions, enrollment lists, record books, and muster rolls.

Account Book (1972-109-3) documents transactions of an unknown blacksmith. The book is organized chronologically, and the entries included the name of the customer, sometimes a description of the job, and the price. The book may have been used as a scrapbook.

These papers contain legal and financial documents relating to Edwards's business activities and his legal career, most of which was carried on in New Haven. Also included are drafts of his political writings and speeches on the Federalist Party, Connecticut's charter government, and other topics. Most of Edwards's correspondence concerns his land speculation in Vermont, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and especially Connecticut's Western Reserve in Ohio. Major correspondents are William Neilson, John Read, Jr., Aaron Burr, Seth Tracy, Simon Perkins and George Swift. Edwards's correspondence with John Read, Jr. and a number of the legal documents reflect his activities as a special agent appointed to settle Loyalist claims following the Revolutionary War under the terms of the Jay Treaty.

Account books, deeds, and one letter from S. Hart, Jr. to Harriet Canfield, later the wife of Anson Bradley. The account book (1805-1806) was kept by Elisha Bradley in connection with his woolen business. The deeds reflect the transactions of Elisha Bradley and his son Anson in Southbury, Connecticut.

The books fall into three categories: farmers, storekeepers and businesses.

Correspondence of Charles Babbage, writings by Babbage, and other related papers collected by Alfred White Van Sinderen. Correspondence, circa 1810-1864 and undated, consists of autograph letters, signed, most from Babbage to colleagues, friends, and others; also present are a few letters to Babbage and third party letters. Correspondents include Alexander Dallas Bache; Michael Faraday; William Henry Fitton; Benjamin Hawes; Ada King, Countess of Lovelace; and Peter Mark Roget. Writings by Babbage include a untitled poem, autograph manuscript, circa 1817-1820, about Babbage's unsuccessful efforts to obtain an academic appointment; "To the Electors of Finsbury," 1832 November 12, printed proof, about Babbage's views during the Parliamentary election; and an autograph manuscript account book, 1810-1827. Most correspondence and writings are accompanied by typed transcripts and notes made by Van Sinderen. Other papers include additional notes by Van Sinderen and vendor descriptions for books by Babbage.

Personal account book (2011-119-0) contains entries for money lent, sent out, and brought in. The entries are organized chronologically and provide the date of the transaction, who the money was given to or taken from, what the transaction as for, and the amount of money.

The principal figures are Charles Cummings, a minister in Sullivan, New Hampshire and his daughter Anna Gove Cummings Boyden. Included are notebooks, account books, and diaries kept by Charles Cummings and schoolbooks of his daughter before her marriage in 1838. Also in the papers are family correspondence and legal and financial papers.

The papers consist of correspondence, account books, journals, letterbooks, financial records, and related papers of David Curtis De Forest and family members. The papers document the business and political careers of De Forest, including his commercial enterprise in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Correspondence, located within journals and letterbooks, includes letters written to family members, colleagues, and associates while on sea voyages to South America and elsewhere.
