This collection, which spans 1916-2003, primarily contains material related to the term of Charles Shain as sixth president of Connecticut College (1962-1974), including correspondence, reports, minutes, speeches/lectures, publications, and newspaper clippings.

Walter Landauer was born in Mannheim, Germany, on 15 July 1896 the son of S. Friedrich and Charlotte Ziegler Landauer. He attended the University of Frankfurt and received his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg in 1922. He held the position of Zoology Instructor from 1922-1924 at Heidelberg before accepting a position at the University of Connecticut in 1924 at the Experiment Station. From 1928 until his retirement in 1964, Landauer was a professor in the department of animal genetics. Landauer is known for his work in animal genetics, specifically chickens.

The papers consist of correspondence with Edward M. House (1920-1938), personal correspondence, manuscripts and correspondence preparatory to the publication of Seymour's Intimate Papers of Colonel House (1926-1928), newspaper clippings, articles, and memorabilia. Much of the material concerns Seymour's role as delegate to the Paris Peace Conference of 1919.

The collection contains the records of Joseph W. Gordon, Deputy Dean of Yale College and Dean of Undergraduate Edcuation. Includes administrative files which consist of reports, meeting notes and materials, and reports with supporting materials.

The records in this collection contain materials regarding agreements between the University and: the Administrative and Residual Employee Union, Local 4200; American Association of University Professors; New England Regional Student Services; the State Board of Education; and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. It also includes materials regarding the Community Relations Program, Faculty Handbooks, and University Senate minutes.

The papers contain correspondence, appointments, discharge certificates, photographs, printed material, and other military papers documenting Tobey's life and career, particularly during the Civil War years. There is additional material concerning his later career during which time he served at several Far Western posts.

The collection consists of correspondence, photographs, and memorabilia relating to Frederick J. Mahaffey, BArch, 1953. Included are letters written to a friend, George Browner Cash, BArch 1956; photographs of a student architecture project to build a geodesic dome; eulogy by Mahaffey for Nelson J. Palmer, BArch 1953; and related academic materials.
