The collection includes the D.I.C. records, clippings, correspondence, legal documents and most notably a three volume Danbury Industrial Survey which contains comprehensive descriptions and statistical analyses of Danbury's business and industrial community from 1918.

Manuscript and printed indexes and summary volumes prepared by regional abstract companies to record the history of real property titles and other financial and legal transactions in Fremont, Teller, and El Paso counties in Colorado, 1861-1972, with the bulk of the collection dating from the height of the Cripple Creek gold rush, 1890-1910. The records consist chiefly of summary accounts created by regional abstract companies from official records maintained in the Fremont, Teller, and El Paso county clerks' offices to document the acquisition and transfer of real property, mining claims, powers of attorney, and tax delinquencies. The records created by abstract companies are accompanied by small groups of business records from local institutions and individuals, as well as 22 printed maps and one disbound volume of plat maps from the region.

Many images appear in his book, In the Places of the Spirits (Santa Fe, New Mexico: School for Advanced Research Press, 2010).

Mary Wood Forman was born on 17 November 1918 in Mussoorie, India, where her parents served as Presbyterian missionaries. Her family moved in 1923 to Columbus, Ohio. Forman graduated from Ohio State University in 1940 and received a Masters degree in Social Work from Western Reserve University in 1944. After several years abroad and in New York City, Forman moved to Hartford, CT in 1956. It was here that she developed her interest in photography. She traveled to Europe and the American West, recording what she saw in the photographs she took. She also took two trips to India, resulting in a major show of her work in Hartford. She preferred to develop and print her images herself, in order to bring out her individual perspective. Forman lived in the Hartford area and worked in the Hartford schools until her death on 22 August 1989.
