In 1895, the General Assembly established a three person board known as the State Highway Commission to monitor town expenditures of state funds as well as construction and improvements to public roads. In 1897, the legislature abolished the board and created the State Highway Department headed by the State Highway Commissioner. In October 1969, it merged into the new Department of Transportation.

Ives and Pierce, a rural business in Canaan, Connecticut, was owned by Henry B. Ives and Robert D. Pierce, and sold grain, chicken feed, poultry, and agricultural supplies to local farmers. The business also sold coal to local residents. The records consist of 36 volumes of financial journals, daybooks, and coal and account books.

The papers contain correspondence, family papers, writings, printed works, photoprints, and other materials documenting the life and career of Elizabeth Page Harris. The Harris Papers have extensive material on such subjects as family life, single women, publishers and publishing, voluntarism, the International Grenfell Association, American Friends Service Committee, the Society of Friends, Japanese relocation, and pacifism.

The International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons was an "international, interdenominational, inter-racial [sic] organization for development of spiritual life and stimulation of Christian activities," the Connecticut Branch is composed of a number of local "circles" which met periodically.

The papers consist of correspondence, research notes, manuscripts, printed matter, and photographs.

The materials consist of 16mm films produced by Ethan Allen Films on Sports [?] around 1960 in cooperation with the Yale University Athletic Association. The films, made for distribution to amatuer and professional teams, demonstrate baseball technique using Yale baseball players. Ethan Allen, Yale baseball coach from 1946 to 1968, narrates the films. Also included are videotapes of games and other team events.

The collection contains correspondence from a student at Storrs Agricultural College to his brother who was at Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

Documentation in this collection provides insight into the changing character of YMCA concerns. Extensive files of correspondence, minutes, and reports document the daily administrative routines of the executive secretary office, policy questions and the development of the Student Division. Topical files contain material on disarmament, work with Black students, preparatory school work, recruiting and training efforts, the Universal Day of Prayer and voluntary study. Documentation on regional and local association activities, pamphlet and periodical publications and photographs are also included. The Student Department of the YMCA, established in 1877, was involved in religious work among college and university students. Its headquarters were located in New York, with member associations on campuses throughout the United States.
