The papers consist of nine volumes, six of which contain records of claims for pensions made by Civil War veterans from Connecticut. The remaining volumes contain accounts related to John Graves Chapman's insurance business, a letterbook (ca. 1866-1879), and a collection of mounted postmarks.

The collection contains photographs of Dwight Hall at Yale, which was known as the Old Library from 1889 to 1930. Included are interior and exterior views and views of the building taken during the various stages of the construction or demolition of the surrounding structures.

The Charles G. Hall Papers contain correspondence, diaries, family papers, scrapbooks, photographs, publications, and other papers, relating to Hall's personal life, student days at Connecticut Agricultural College, activities as doorkeeper of Connecticut House of Representatives, state politics, events at University of Connecticut, and family affairs.

The papers include correspondence, writings, lecture notes, student notebooks, research notes, memorabilia, and scrapbooks of clippings documenting William Lyon Phelps's career as a professor of English and popularizer of literature. Phelps's lecture notes and annotated volumes on English literature comprise half of the papers. The papers also include a small quantity of family papers relating to Phelps's father and wife.

Founded by Carlton J. Bates (1848-1941) in 1907, the C.J. Bates Company manufactured manicure sets, crochet hooks, and knitting needles in Chester, Connecticut.

Letters to Elisha Cooper's family in New Britain, Connecticut, during his four years at Yale College. Letters for the first semester of his junior year, September to December, 1890, are missing.

The papers consist of correspondence, reports, and papers on engineering. The largest portion concerns the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, of which Scott was an active member. Another large section is made up of Scott's administrative correspondence at Yale in the electrical engineering department (1911-1922). Also included are papers documenting Scott's employment at the Westinghouse Electrical and Manufacturing Company from 1888 to 1911 and includes correspondence, technical papers, and material for a biography of George Westinghouse. Pamphlets and other material issued by Engineers for Hoover (1928), and miscellaneous papers from the National Committee on Prisons and Prison Labor are also in the papers.

The papers are primarily printed and typescript documents relating to Hugh Bayne's service on international arbitration commissions, some with his marginalia and accompanying notes. His decisions as arbiter include his interpretations of disarmament clauses of the Versailles Treaty (1923) and his opinion on the claims of the Standard Oil Company (1926) and on the claim of Belgium to the treasure of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The remainder of the papers is made up of three volumes of his memoirs, (1870-1943) with photographs, clippings and correspondence pasted in, and the contents of three scrapbooks kept by Bayne while a student at Yale College (1888-1892).
