Correspondence, diaries, legal and financial records and memorabilia by and about the descendants of Lieutenant Thomas Leffingwell, one of the founders of Norwich, Connecticut. The major groups of papers are those of Christopher Leffingwell (1734-1810), a merchant in Norwich and William Leffingwell (1765-1834), a stockbroker in New York and later a resident of New Haven. These groups contain papers on legal, financial and business transactions. Family correspondence during the Revolutionary War describes civilian life and medical treatment of the period. National politics are discussed all through the nineteenth century. Also of interest are travel diaries kept by Caroline Augusta Foote in Savannah in 1834 and by Frederica Russell Street during a grand tour of Europe, 1843-1847.

Correspondence during his terms as Attorney General of New Hampshire (1802-1805), as a senator in the United States Senate (1813-1817), and as a representative in the New Hampshire House of Representatives (1820-1824). The correspondence also reflects his activities in private practice and in local issues, such as the Dartmouth College Case (1818-1819). The correspondence, which is largely political, reflects the issues of the times, among them Aaron Burr's activities, the Tripolitan War, the War of 1812, the presidential elections of 1816 and 1824, the embargo and the tariff. Among the correspondents are Nicholas Biddle, David Daggett, Rufus King, William Plumer, Benjamin Tappan and Bennett Tyler.

The collection consists chiefly of bound manuscript diaries and corresponding typescript transcriptions. Also included in the collection is a bound manuscript recipe book, two letters, and a theater script translated into English from French by Dunlap entitled Thirty Years or The Life of a Gamester or The Gambler's Fate.

Litchfield County judicial records (2, designated to distinguish them from the collection Litchfield County judicial records (2005-08-0)) (1799-1910) consist of case files and other documents relating to matters involving the Litchfield County Court, the Litchfield Superior Court, and the clerk of the court. These records appear to complement other Litchfield County judicial records found in the Litchfield Historical Society's collections and the Litchfield County Court records held by the Connecticut State Archives.

The collection consist of letters, postcards, photograph albums, and various printed ephemera documenting Yale affiliated individuals and organizations collected by Ravi D. Goel.

Contains letters from George Gissing to various people, including Eduard Bertz, Edward Clodd, Algernon Gissing, Ellen Gissing, Catherine Gissing, Margaret Bedford Gissing, Thomas Waller Gissing, and Walter L. Gissing; third party letters, including those between Gabrielle Fleury and Eduard Bertz; manuscripts and notes of writings by Gissing and others; agreements between Gissing and publishers; certificates that Gissing earned in school; a few photographs of Gissing; and material collected by Percival M. Stone about Gissing's time in Waltham, Mass.

Letters from William Hazlitt to various parties, along with letters by Hazlitt's father (William Hazlitt) and Hazlitt's son (William Hazlitt) as well as three manuscripts by Hazlitt.

Letters between Sarah Buckingham and family and friends, between other family members, and between family and friends. Among the letters from Clark Nettleton to his sister Mrs. Goodsell is a letterhead of a 1858 view of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Series I, Letters to John Bruce, consists almost entirely of business and professional letters addressed to him in his roles as Secretary of the Camden Society and editor of many of its early publications. Correspondents include Octavian Blewitt; Sir Robert Harry Inglis; William Jerdan; Macvey Napier; Julia Pardoe; and Thomas Joseph Pettigrew.
Series II, Letters of Caroline Amelia Halsted, contains 35 letters from the popular historian to Bruce on the subjects of her royal biographies; her negotiations with publishers and research libraries; and her thoughts on her position as a woman historian.

Materials from the American Vietnam War era, including American and Vietnamese propaganda, posters from the pro-war and anti-war movements, as well as artifacts from American soldiers who served in the war.
