These archives constitute the data, drafts, reports, and related material that resulted in the two volume report of the Danforth Study of Campus Ministries, The Church, the University, and Social Policy, which was published by Wesleyan University Press in 1969. The Danforth Study of Campus Ministries, sponsored by the Danforth Foundation beginning in 1963, was directed by Kenneth Underwood. Through questionnaires, studies, and analysis, the project documented the state of religious awareness and commitment on American university and college campuses.

The David Alan Richards Collection of Rudyard Kipling consists of material by and relating to English author Rudyard Kipling. There are autograph and typescript letters, signed, from Kipling to others as well as some third-party letters relating to Kipling or the collection. Correspondents include Edward Bok, Ladies Home Journal, Sir Philip Burne-Jones, Moncure D. Conway, C. S. Jarvis, John Lockwood Kipling, A. E. W. Mason, H. Cotton Minchin, S. S. McClure Company, E. W. Stoddard, and others. Writings include a corrected typescript draft of Kipling's first novel, The Light that Failed (1890), an autograph manuscript draft and illustrations for The Princess in the Pickle-bottle, and autograph manuscript and typescript drafts of a number of poems. In addition, there are illustrated works by Kipling's father, John Lockwood Kipling, and a bibliography of Kipling's work. Other papers include scrapbooks, consisting chiefly of clippings, photographs, postcards and other printed ephemera, artwork, and memorabilia relating to Kipling.

The Delmore Schwartz Papers document the life and work of the writer, editor, and teacher Delmore Schwartz. The papers consist of writings, notebooks, correspondence, photographs, personal papers and effects, drawings, clippings, and printed material. Writings and notebooks comprise the bulk of the papers. Writings include drafts of poems, stories, essays, reviews, criticism, lectures, and other writings. Notebooks span two decades and document Schwartz's increasingly troubled mind and frantic writings, containing a hybrid of writing drafts and personal diary entries. The papers also include correspondence with friends and colleagues, revealing his intimate but often troubled friendships, professional relationships, and two marriages. Personal and professional papers of Schwartz contain records of his divorce from Elizabeth Pollet, teaching files and financial materials, drawings, collected clippings, and other papers. The papers also contain photographs of Schwartz, his family and friends, and literary events. The papers span the years 1906-1975.

Dick Gackenbach was born 9 February 1927, in Allentown, PA, the son of William and Gertrude (Reichenbach) Gackenbach. He attended Jameson Franklin School of Art, NY, and Abbott School of Art, Washington, DC. He worked for J. C. Penney Company (New York City, 1950-1972) as a paste-up artist and later, creative director. He went out on his own as a free-lance author and illustrator beginning in 1972 to the present. Mr. Gackenbach died in 2001.
