George W. Heinold, lifelong resident of Madison, Connecticut, was an author on outdoor life and fishing who wrote extensively on his experiences primarily along the Connecticut shoreline. He published regularly in such periodicals as Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, and Readers' Digest.

Correspondence, writings, reports, memoranda, printed material, and miscellanea documenting the personal and professional life of George H.E. Smith, an author, educator at Yale University, director of the League of Nations, Non-Partisan Association of Detroit, Michigan, and secretary, staff director, and consultant to the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee (1944-1962). The papers document Smith's work for the Republican Policy Committee through memoranda, correspondence, handbooks, articles, newsletters, and printed material. These same materials were distributed to Republican senators for use in speeches, position papers, and political campaigns. The Republican Party position on such issues as domestic policy, economic policy, elections, foreign relations, and political parties is detailed. The workings of the Committee itself can be charted through the minutes of meetings, correspondence, and subject files, as can the development of the Committee staff. Writings and general correspondence focus on Smith's literary work on topics including: national politics, political parties, and domestic and foreign policies. Charles A. Beard, James Couzens, John Danaher, Roman Gorski, and Lindsay Rogers are primary correspondents. Additional material documents Smith's financial work as director of the Detroit, Michigan, League of Nations office, his teaching career at Yale University, and his personal life.

Correspondence, diaries, notes and writings of George Leon and Williston Walker form the core of the collection and provide extensive biographical information. They detail the activities of a typical New England clergyman during the second half of the 19th century and provide information on national news, political events, the Civil War, slavery, financial news on currency and taxes, and daily weather conditions. Also included are records of sermons preached and pastoral records. George Leon Walker (1830-1900) was a Congregational clergyman in Portland, Maine (1858-1867), New Haven, Connecticut (1868-1873), and Hartford, Connecticut (1879-1892). He was a corporate member of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and served on the commission to prepare the Congregational creed. His son, Williston Walker (1860-1922) was professor of history/church history at Bryn Mawr College (1888-1889), Hartford Theological Seminary (1889-1901) and Yale University (1901-1922). He also served as a trustee of Amherst College (1896-1922), acting dean of Yale Graduate School (1916-1917) and provost of Yale University (1919-1922).

The collection consists of correspondence, writings, collected material, personal items, and memorabilia that document the activities and associations of George Sherwood Eddy throughout his career as a YMCA secretary, seminar leader, author, lecturer, and evangelist. George Sherwood Eddy was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on January 19, 1871. He earned a Ph.B. degree from Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University in 1891, attended Union Theological Seminary and graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary. Eddy worked for the YMCA, Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions, and American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. He was appointed YMCA secretary for Asia in 1911. Eddy wrote and published numerous books and pamphlets from 1895-1955. He died in Jacksonville, Illinois on November 4, 1963.

Correspondence and manuscripts dealing chiefly with Viereck's book about Colonel E. M. House and President Wilson, The Strangest Friendship in History. Also included are notes and manuscripts concerning "The Memoirs of Colonel House," and miscellaneous other papers.

Correspondence, research notes, clippings, and a book-length manuscript on Woodrow Wilson written by Watt, a lawyer and Wilson enthusiast. The correspondence consists mainly of Watt's requests for information about Wilson and an attempt to ascertain whether Theodore Roosevelt actually fought in the battle on San Juan Hill. Although much of the correspondence is perfunctory, there is a letter from Winston Churchill on World War I, another from Josephus Daniels on Wilson, and several replies from "Rough Riders" attesting to Roosevelt's participation in the battle.

The Georgiĭ Adamovich Papers contain correspondence and printed works which provide information about Adamovich's literary life.

Gerald Hausman was born 13 October 1945 in Baltimore, MD. He attended New Mexico Highlands University (B.A., 1968). His career has included Poetry teacher (Lenox, MA, 1969-1972), editor of the Bookstore Press (1972-1977), vice-president of Sunstone Press (Santa Fe, NM, 1979-1983); English teacher at the Santa Fe Preparatory School (1983-1987).

The Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas Collection contains manuscripts, letters, photographs, clippings, artworks, and research materials relating to the life and work of Gertrude Stein and her companion, Alice B. Toklas gathered during the years following Stein's death to supplement the Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas Papers (YCAL MSS 76). Items from such friends and admirers as Elizabeth Fuller Chapman, Doda Conrad, Clement Hurd, Samuel Steward, and Donald Sutherland complement the original group of Stein papers.
Series I, Writings, includes drafts of works by Stein and several posthumously published items, along with a group of writings by Alice B. Toklas. Series II, Correspondence, contains long runs of letters from Stein to: Edward Aswell, Henry Phelan Gibb, William Garland Rogers, Samuel Steward, Donald Sutherland, and Virgil Thomson, all of which were acquired from the original recipients and several outgoing letters from Gertrude Stein and from Alice Toklas.
Series III, Other Papers, contains research materials from Stein scholars, files from the Atlantic Monthly concerning their publication of Stein's work, several musical settings of Stein works, and Doda Conrad's files concerning a fund for Alice Toklas.
Series IV and V contain Printed Materials and Series VI contains Photographs, some of Stein and Toklas, but principally of artworks owned by Stein and of posthumous productions of Stein plays.
Series VII and VIII (Artworks and Objects), includes a collage painting by Pablo Picasso and a number of paintings by Sir Francis Rose. Series IX, Film and Sound Recordings, contains a film of Stein and Toklas at the Hotel Pernollet in Belley France around 1927 and several audio recordings of Stein readings her works.

The Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas Papers contain manuscripts of writings, letters, clippings, photographs, artworks, and personal papers relating to the life and work of Gertrude Stein and her companion, Alice B. Toklas, and to Gertrude's brother, Leo Stein, an artist and writer. As well as holding the bulk of Stein's literary output (often described as "experimental" or "cubist" writing), the materials document Stein and Toklas' involvement with the literary and art scene in Paris during the first half of the 20th century.
Series I, Writings, contains holograph and typescript drafts of the majority of Gertrude Stein's writings, including "The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas," "The Making of Americans" (complete with a quantity of notes, or "studies"), "Tender Buttons" and a group of unpublished fragments and carnets, notebooks kept by Stein with preliminary drafts of writings.
Series II, Correspondence of Gertrude Stein, contains letters sent from a wide variety of Stein's friends: artists such as Georges Bracque, Jean Cocteau, and Pablo Picasso; writers such as Sherwood Anderson, Ernest Hemingway, and Thornton Wilder; and acquaintances through many years such as Mildred Aldrich, Etta and Claribel Cone, Robert Haas, Mabel Dodge Luhan,Sir Francis Rose, Virgil Thomson, and Carl Van Vechten. Series III, Third Party Letters and Series IV, Alice B. Toklas Correspondence, contain letters from many of the same people, the latter group containing Alice Toklas's correspondence following Gertrude Stein's death.
Series V, Personal Papers, and Series VI, Clippings, gather together various personal affects of Stein and Toklas as well as documentation of Stein's life as reported during her lifetime.
Series VII, Photographs, show Stein from early childhood through 1946, the year she died. Prints showing Alice Toklas, various friends, artworks, and locales are included in this series, as are several volumes of prints made by Carl Van Vechten.
Series VIII and IX contain numerous artworks and objects given by Stein and Toklas. Included here are a painting by Pablo Picasso and a sketch by Henri Matisse.
