Jacob C. Krapowicz was born in Norwalk, Conn. on September 11, 1935, a son of Rose (Fenik) Krapowicz of Pound Ridge, N.Y. and the late Jacob R. Krapowicz. Krapowicz died Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at his Ridgefield residence at age 63.

He attended Pound Ridge , N.Y. schools and graduated from Katonah High School in Katonah, N.Y. and Hartwick College of Oneonta, N.Y.

Mr. Krapowicz was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and an industrial designer and artist. As an industrial designer, he was employed at the Remington Shover Company of Bridgeport, the King Casey Designers ofNew Canaan, Raymond Spilman Designers of Darien and General Tools and Manufacturing Company of New York City. He is credited with 32 patents for new product designs during his career, from which he retired due to illness.

In addition to his design work, Mr. Krapowicz was a painter who worked in watercolor and acrylics, which have been displayed and sold throughout the country.

He was an avid soccer player and coached the Ridgefield Strykers for several years.

A resident of Ridgefield and the area since 1963, he was a member of the Watercolor Society of Springfield, MA, the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and the St. Elizabeth Seton Church of Ridgefield.

All these paintings are part of Marjorie Echols local artist collection at Western Connecticut State University archives.
