The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts drafts, legal papers, clippings, issues of the Daily Kent Stater, interview transcripts, photographs and other material collected by Peter Davies, Paul Keane, Bill Gordon, James Munves and others concerning the disturbance at Kent State University and the shooting of Kent State students by members of the Ohio National Guard on May 4, 1970. The collection also includes a model of the Kent State campus.

The papers consist of Baruch Nadel's research materials for a proposed book on Abraham Stern, the founder of Lohamei Herut Israel ("Lehi"), an armed underground organization in British Palestine. The papers include more than 150 transcribed interviews conducted by Nadel, interviews by others with members of Lehi, memoirs by Lehi members and Stern aides, and poems and letters by Stern. Also included in the papers are Nadel's research materials concerning the emigration of Jews from Iraq between 1950 and 1951 and collected materials relating to Jewish life in Europe and to Nadel's father, Menaḥem Nadel, and others involved in early Zionist political groups, Palestine under the Mandate, and the State of Israel.

The papers consist of personal and professional correspondence, writings, notes, teaching materials, subject files, audio tapes and other papers of Leonard J. Savage (1917-1971), mathematician, statistician, author, teacher, and professor at Yale from 1964-1971. The papers relate primarily to Savage's work in the field of statistics, especially Bayesian statistics, and includes extensive correspondence with many of his professional colleagues from around the world. Also included is a large collection of the writings of the Italian mathematician, Bruno de Finetti, material relating to an exhibit on "Animal Odorants" done for the Peabody Museum of Natural History, and the papers of I. Richard Savage and the Savage family.

The Czesław Miłosz Papers document the life and work of the poet, essayist and Nobel Laureate Czesław Miłosz. The papers consist of writings, correspondence, photographs, personal papers, audio material, and printed material (including newspaper clippings, printed ephemera and clandestine samizdat publications), spanning the years 1880-2000, with the bulk of the material dating from 1940 to 1989. While some writings, photographs and personal documents pre-date the Second World War, the earliest correspondence dates from 1946.

Records of ACLU of Ohio attorneys document preparation for the retrial of Krause v. Rhodes in 1978. Because the retrial was the culmination of a long, difficult legal battle for accountability in the deaths of four students and the injury of nine others, the collection includes not just materials assembled specifically for the 1978 trial, but also materials gathered for previous lawsuits related to the May 4th, 1970, shootings at Kent State University. The collection includes documents filed in various courts such as briefs, memoranda and motions, transcripts of trial proceedings, and depositions. It also includes materials produced by the attorneys and their staff, such as correspondence, research memoranda, legal stragety communications, and witness files of individuals who testified at one or more trials.
