Correspondence and other documents signed by circa 200 members of the Académie française, 1637-1926 and undated, assembled by an unidentified collector, possibly American autograph collector Howes Norris, Jr. (1867-1938), of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Most are autograph letters, signed; other contents include literary writings, legal documents, and a few documents concerning administration of the Académie française. Many are accompanied by descriptions from vendor catalogs, engraved portraits, clippings, or notes of former owners. Correspondence includes an autograph letter, signed, from Alexis de Tocqueville to Robert Walsh, consul general of the United States in Paris, 1845 June 10.

It also includes site and structural information about the building itself, as well as a questionnaire for Yale School of Architecture alumni, designed by Smith, regarding their impressions of the building.

The Grace Mott Johnson Papers are comprised of correspondence, writings, photographs, and personal papers, which document the personal and professional life of the American artist Grace Mott Johnson. The Papers reflect Grace Mott Johnson's involvement in civil rights and involvement in the N.A.A.C.P. The papers also include material pertaining to Grace Mott Johnson's ancestors, including her father Alfred Van Cleve Johnson and grandfather Ebenezer Alfred Johnson. The most prominent correspondents in the papers are Johnson's son Alfred Dasburg and husband Andrew Dasburg.

Correspondence in the collection consists of letters to and from family, friends, other writers, publishers, scholars, and well-known political and cultural figures from the first half of the twentieth century. Noteworthy correspondents include Stephen Vincent Benét, Albert Einstein, Robert Frost, Percy MacKaye, Ezra Pound, Edwin Arlington Robinson, and Albert Schweitzer, as well as Theodore ("Teddy"), Franklin D., and Eleanor Roosevelt. Writings include drafts and research materials for articles, plays, poems, short stories, speeches, and biographical works. In addition, there are clippings on Hagedorn and reviews of his literary and biographical works. Other materials include medals, music, photographs, printed materials, and a scrapbook
