Correspondence, writings, printed material, and miscellanea relating to Samuel William Dudley's career as a professor of engineering at Yale University and a mechanical engineer with the Westinghouse Air Brake Company.

A. B. Guthrie Jr. (1901-1991), Montana-born writer whose popular Western novels include The Big Sky (1947), The Way West(1949), and Fair Land, Fair Land (1982). His autobiography was published in 1965. In his later years Guthrie became an outspoken advocate of conservation in the West.

The Solomon Sir Jones films consist of 29 silent black and white films documenting African-American communities in Oklahoma from 1924 to 1928. Jones filmed Oklahoma residents in their homes; during their social, school and church activities; in the businesses they owned; and performing various jobs. The films document several Oklahoma communities, including Muskogee, Okmulgee, Tulsa, Wewoka, Bristow and Taft. The films also document Jones's trips to Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, New York City, South Carolina, Colorado, and overseas to France, England, Palestine, Switzerland, Italy, Northern Africa, and Germany. Slates between scenes identify locations, dates, and subjects. The films measure 12,800 feet (355 min).

The Civil War Manuscripts Collection was created to give the researcher more direct access to small and fragmentary collections of material on the subject of the Civil War in the United States, 1861-1865. It is an intentionally assembled collection of diaries, correspondence, photographs, printed material, and ephemera primarily documenting military events and daily camp life, as well as family life on the home front and civilian activities. Many Connecticut regiments are represented throughout the collection.

The William David Sherman papers contain correspondence, writings, and other materials documenting the personal and professional activities of American author William David Sherman. Correspondence in the collection consists chiefly of incoming letters from English-language authors and literary scholars active during the mid to late twentieth century, including Asa Benveniste, Basil Bunting, Cid Corman, Robert Creeley, Rachel Blau DuPlessis, David Goodis, Bill Griffiths, Jeremy Hilton, Lyn Lifshin, Susan Smith Nash, Frances Presley, and Tom Raworth. The largest correspondence files are from Corman and Griffiths, poet and curator of the Eric Mottram Archive at King's College, London. Griffiths's letters, for example, discuss literary matters, the literary scene in England, and life in northeastern England. Writings consist chiefly of drafts of poetry collections, but there are also novels, short stories, copies of Sherman's graduate student work at SUNY Buffalo, and offprints for articles by other writers. Other materials include audio and video recordings, computer disks, subject files, photographs, and printed materials.

The American Field Service Application Records comprise the history of an application filed in 1990 by American Field Service veterans of World War II for retroactive recognition as United States Army servicemen by the Pentagon under provisions of the G.I. Bill of 1977. The collection also contains research materials and publications relating to the history of the American Field Service during both world wars. The records, comprised of original documents, as well as photocopies thereof, were amassed by Joseph Porter Brinton, III, an ambulance driver with the American Field Service during World War II, who compiled the guide for their use.

The Robert Ferro Papers consist of personal correspondence and material related to his published and unpublished writings, with a few files of academic and personal papers. The bulk of the collection concerns Ferro's writings, particularly his four novels, which with their semi-autobiographical themes of homosexuality, family, and illness, tell much about his community in the 1970s and 1980s. His earlier writings often refer to his experiences of living in Italy. Ferro also wrote critical reviews for various gay newspapers, and the collection contains snapshot photographs of Gay Pride marches in New York. While his correspondence files are not extensive, they do hold letters from others writers working in the United States and abroad.

The Donald Wing Papers consist of professional and editorial correspondence files, typescripts, and galleys mostly related to his research for and publication of A Short-Title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and British America and of English Books Printed in Other Countries, 1641-1700.

The materials consist of audiorecordings conducted by Richard Conniff for his portrait of Yale professor Vincent Scully in the March/April 2008 issue of the Yale Alumni Magazine. Interviewees include Scully, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, David McCullough, Ed Bass, and Charles Gwathmey. Also included are several of Scully's art history lectures.
