The collection consists of correspondence, writings, photographs, personal papers, printed material, audiovisual material, memorabilia, and artwork that document the life and work of author J. D. McClatchy from his youth to the 2010s. Correspondence is both personal and professional and includes letters from Anthony Hecht, James Merrill, Robert Penn Warren, and Richard Wilbur, among many other prominent figures of 20th and 21st century American literature, as well as correspondence relating to the publication of the Yale Review. Writings include drafts, proofs, and other material documenting the works of J. D. McClatchy, as well as journals and travel notebooks. Personal papers include documents, and diaries of Mary Jane McClatchy, mother of J. D. McClatchy.

The collection contains research material, writings, printed material, photographs and audiovisual material, including sound and video recordings, scrapbooks, and other personal papers documenting the life and professional career of American-born performer and artistic director Bert Stimmel. Stimmel spent the bulk of his professional life in the U.S., from the late 1950s to early 1970s, and in Lebanon, from 1972 onward, and the collection features material accumulated around his professional activities during this 50 year period.

Sermons, writings, notes, teaching materials, and personal items provide substantive documentation of the life and work of Dr. Samuel Moss Carter, an early African American graduate of the Yale Divinity School, who was a Baptist pastor and professor of Church History, primarily in Virginia.

The materials consist of 16mm motion picture film and soundtracks used in the production of To Be A Man, a Yale admissions film.

The Peter Ackroyd papers primarily contain research files, manuscripts, drafts, and page proofs for many of Ackroyd's novels, biographies, and historical studies, as well as related correspondence and screenplays. Also present are his appointment books, some personal papers and photographs, and personal papers of his partner Brian Michael Kuhn (1952-1994).

The collection consists of manuscript notes and card files, printed material, writings drafts and offprints, and a small amount of correspondence and grant applications relating to White's research on Thomas Mann. Notes and card files mostly concern White's research on Dante's Divina commedia and Karl Vossler's work on Dante as source material for Mann's Der Zauberberg. Some notes concern Mann's Doktor Faustus or works of other German authors. Correspondence with Joseph Angell, founding curator of the Beinecke Library's Thomas Mann Collection, concerns their shared interest in Mann, the Beinecke Library's Mann Collection, and White's research and academic career.

The collection consists of posters published in nations involved in World War I, 1914-1918, the Spanish Civil War, and World War II, 1939-1945. Great Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada, Australia, Ireland and other nations are represented through posters depicting such diverse topics as recruitment, enlistment, conservation, war loans, civilian service, home relief, foreign relief and propaganda messages. Posters issued by government agencies, social organizations, and private concerns are included.

The Western Film Collection consists of press kits, pressbooks, posters, photographs, souvenir programs and other materials that were distributed by film producers to movie theater operators to promote their films. The Western films represented in this collection are Western genre films, films set in the trans-Mississippi West, and/or films with Western characters. Press kits typically include advertisements prepared for submission to newspapers and magazines; black-and-white photographs of scenes from the films with credit information; printed booklets called pressbooks containing information about the film, actors, and other personnel; and posters for lobby display. Early press kits were called "campaign kits." While the majority of press kits included in the collection consist of foldered printed material, there are several examples of electronic press kits on compact disc. The Buddy Holly Story pressbook contains a "flexi disc" recording bound in.

The papers consist of correspondence, business files, autobiographical and other writings, photographs and other materials documenting the business career and personal life of Robert R. Young. The collection documents Young's efforts to take control of the Alleghany Corporation and the New York Central Railroad. The papers also include materials concerning the lives of his wife, Anita O'Keeffe Young, and his daughter, Eleanor Young.

At this time, the Papers include a portion of the Sauter-Finegan Orchestra arrangements. The parts and the scores have been organized into separate series because they were received separately. Not all of the parts have a corresponding score at this time.
