The collection consists of correspondence, printed material, and photographs relating to the history and current political, economic, and social conditions in Uganda.

The papers are comprised of letters written by Roy Welensky to Flag Captain Gabriel Teixeira of Portugal, a former governor-general of Mozambique. The correspondence ranges from 1961 to 1972 and documents the condition and dissolution of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland as well as the state of affairs in Southern Rhodesia after the dissolution. Welensky opposed the end of colonial rule in Africa and the letters reflect these opinions. They also include discussions of the health and well-being of Godfrey Martin Huggins Malvern, a mutual friend and colleague of Welensky and Teixeira. A photographic caricature of Welensky is included in the papers.

The major part of the papers consists of reports and maps on the holdings of the Rochester Mines Company in Humboldt County, Nevada (1916-1917). During this period Knopf was on the staff of the U.S. Geological Survey. Also a small amount of professional correspondence and lecture notes, chiefly relating to his career as a professor of geology at Yale University. Eleven of the letters are from Charles Schuchert, a colleague in the department.

Correspondence, writings, research notes, teaching materials, printed matter, a diary, a scrapbook, and photographs (1922-1952) comprise the papers. The teaching materials and the research notes reflect French's interest in Chaucer. A portion of the correspondence concerns Memorial Quadrangle at Yale, about which he published a book in 1929. There is also a substantial number of letters from students at Jonathan Edwards College, of which he was master from 1930 to 1953. Other correspondents are Robert Bates, John Philip Marchant and Emerson Tuttle.

A collection of seventy lantern slides (ca. 1912, hand tinted) of the Great Wall of China made by L. Newton Hayes (1883-ca. 1979) and the explorer William Edgar Geil. Also in the papers is the text of a lecture by Hayes on the slides, a book by Hayes on the Great Wall published in 1929 and miscellaneous Chinese documents. Also among the papers is a portrait of Li Hung-chang, Grand Councillor to the Empress Dowager Tsu Hsi.

Personal papers and research notes of Norton Canfield relating to audiology. Included are papers documenting a national hearing survey, a Connecticut hearing survey, various New Haven, Connecticut projects, and an Army hearing center.

The papers consist of a scrapbook of clippings, pamphlets, and printed material relating to Paul Rudolph, architect and educator at Yale.

The materials consist of pencil drawings of people and objects by Richard W. Arnold while a student at Yale. Although Arnold has created gay-themed art, the drawings in the collections do not contain any explicitly gay-themed drawings.
