Malawista's further attempt to patent his invention (OCR 142) was declined by the Yale OCR and, at Malawista's request, the invention was released to him to patent and commercialize as he pleased, on condition that Yale received a portion of net income. The correspondence also concerns a second invention, "Antibody for the Detection of Gamma Related Proteins" (OCR791). Yale offered to release this invention to Malawista also.

Honors, named symposia, retirements, and memorial services of other Yale faculty members including Robert M. Donaldson, Jr., David Kessler, Frank Black, Mrs. Young Soo Park, Pravin N. Bhatt, Joseph Bove, Edward Adelberg, Wilbur G. Downs, Elias E. Manuelidis, and Leon Rosenberg.

The Medical School offered small grants for initial funding of new faculty, pilot studies, and limited interim funding. This proposal by Paul Hoffer and Malawista was titled "Localization of Human Leucocyte Fragments in an In Vivo Rabbit Abscess Model." It was not funded.

The symposium, "Current Issues in Rheumatolgy," offered CME credits that Malawista received. He was not a speaker.
