Correspondence, diaries, notebooks, lectures, articles, essays, genealogical materials, photographs and other papers of William Henry Brewer, scientist, teacher, and writer.The collection spans Brewer's entire career including his student days at the Yale Analytical Laboratory, his work with the California State Geological Survey, his various teaching positions in California, New York and at Yale and all his other many and varied activities. Of special and specific interest are Brewer's letters to members of his family which chronicle his many trips and scientific expeditions, his correspondence with his colleagues, and the methodical and voluminous notes and diaries he kept on virtually everything he did or encountered.

The records consist of correspondence, subject files, reports, memoranda, planning records, minutes of meetings, speeches, and biographical clippings documenting all aspects of Charles Seymour"s activities as president of Yale University.

The papers contain correspondence, reports, and printed material relating to Bernard Bloch's editorship of Language, his directorship of Japanese training programs at Yale during World War II, and other professional activities.

The papers include correspondence, course materials, writings, and photographs documenting Arthur William Galston's career as a plant physiologist and a professor at Yale University. The papers highlight Galston's concern over the ecological harm done by herbicides and his efforts to end the use of Agent Orange, which was sprayed as a defoliant in Vietnam by the United States military. The papers also document Galston's visit to the People's Republic of China in 1971.

The materials consist of 16mm motion picture film and soundtracks used in the production of To Be A Man, a Yale admissions film.

The collection consists of posters published in nations involved in World War I, 1914-1918, the Spanish Civil War, and World War II, 1939-1945. Great Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada, Australia, Ireland and other nations are represented through posters depicting such diverse topics as recruitment, enlistment, conservation, war loans, civilian service, home relief, foreign relief and propaganda messages. Posters issued by government agencies, social organizations, and private concerns are included.

The papers consist of correspondence, business files, autobiographical and other writings, photographs and other materials documenting the business career and personal life of Robert R. Young. The collection documents Young's efforts to take control of the Alleghany Corporation and the New York Central Railroad. The papers also include materials concerning the lives of his wife, Anita O'Keeffe Young, and his daughter, Eleanor Young.

The papers contain correspondence, sermons, other writings, and memorabilia, concerning both Owen's personal life and his work as an Episcopal priest. The bulk of the papers is composed of sermons delivered from Owen's pulpit in Holy Trinity Church, New York City. Much of the correspondence is made up of letters from World War I and World War II servicemen from Owen's churches, letters from fellow Episcopal clergy, or correspondence concerning Owen's coin collection. The papers also include Owen's inspirational writings and drafts for his memoirs.

The records consist of abstracts of title, atlases, maps, indices, index card locator files, probate extracts, and ownership files from the Clark, Hall, and Peck and White Brothers, and its predecessors, the most active New Haven law firms in real property law between the 1860s and 1982.

The materials consist of motion pictures and audiorecordings documenting Yale. Included are films of news coverage and interviews, class reunions, commencements, presidential inaugurations, football games, and other events and activities at Yale.
