The James Thurber papers contain drafts and other material relating to three writing projects. The papers feature material relating to Thurber's biographical memoir The Years With Ross (Boston: Little Brown, 1959), about New Yorker founder and publisher Harold Ross. Materials include research material, correspondence, drafts, and proofs. There are also drafts and fan mail for two children's books, Many Moons (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1943) and The 13 Clocks (New York: Simon and Schuster, 1950).

Manuscript treatises and notes on weaving with Jacquard looms, containing instructions, illustrations of looms, cloth swatches, thread samples, and punch card patterns. Eighteen treatises in French were created by students for coursework at the École de tissage de Lyon, France, 1855-1947, some including printed descriptions of Jacquard and Verdol looms, technical drawings of looms, other printed material relating to weaving in Lyon, and diagrams of punch cards. Notes in German, 1829-1832, are bound with a printed copy of Kirschbaum, Johann Michael, Neues Bild- und Musterbuch zur Beförderung der edlen Leinen- und Bildweberkunst: in 178 Mustern auf 74 Kupfertafeln (Heilbronn und Rothenburg ob der Tauber, in der Eckebrechtischen Buchhandlung, 1771). A manuscript treatise in German, 1894-1895, is accompanied by manuscript notes; two printed articles about the Sächsische Webstuhlfabrik in Chemnitz, Germany, and Louis Ferdinand Schönherr, with technical drawings of looms, undated; two blueprint technical drawings of looms, undated; and a watercolor drawing of "Howard & Bullough's Sizing Machine," undated.

The Lidii︠a︡ Alekseeva Papers consist of correspondence providing information about Alekseeva's literary career.

The collection consists of six autograph manuscript novels or parts of novels, notes, notebooks, and two letters by Anthony Trollope.

Manuscripts of several plays by Anouilh, including L'invitation au chateau, along with many examples of juvenilia (short plays and a school essay), a group of scenarios for a cinema commercial, and notebooks.

Writings by Chauncey Pratt Williams and others on the history of the American West. Includes research material, correspondence, manuscripts, typescripts, and published works by Williams, as well as published works by other writers. Williams' writings include works on the trappers Antoine Robidoux and Bill Williams; the United States General and United States Senator from New York Philip Schuyler; and the Western frontiersmen John Hoback and John Coulter. Also included are Western history publications, including Overland Monthly and The Old West Series.

The collection consists of material created and collected by researchers as part of the Imagining New Orleans Oral History Project. Files consist of digital photographs (on an optical disc), ephemera, printed material, and memorabilia documenting post-Katrina New Orleans in 2006.
