The papers contain correspondence between Tully and his colleagues, primarily medical colleagues, and with the medical schools in which he taught. Also present is Tully's autograph diary covering the three months he spent studying medicine with Nathan Smith in Hanover, New Hampshire, drafts of his writings, two catalogues of his library, and a group of certificates and and diplomas he received from schools and professional societies.

Paul Kagan photographs of utopian communities and personal papers, 1895-1989, bulk 1968-1976

Chiefly photographs created and copied by Kagan while conducting research for his book, New World Utopias: A Photographic History of the Search for Community. The photographs document nineteenth- and twentieth-century utopian communities, most located in California, with others in New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. The collection includes material that Kagan collected about utopian communities, including audiotapes of interviews and related events, as well as drawings and photographs. The collection also includes examples of photography and graphic design that Kagan created for traditional and alternative newspapers, as well as examples of some of his book reviews and other writings. A small group of material documents social action at the University of California, Berkeley, and in the San Francisco Bay area during the 1960s.
Utopian communities and other groups represented in the collection include an unidentified Amish community, Ananda Ashrama, Caspar Compound, Divine Light Mission, Esoteric Fraternity, The Farm, Fundacio?n Indra Devi, Fountaingrove, Fountain of the World, Halcyon, Holy City, Icaria Speranza, Kaweah Colony, Krotona (including Happy Valley School), Lama Foundation, Lemurian Fellowship, Llano del Rio, The Lord's Land, Pisgah Faith Home, Pisgah Grande, Point Loma, Rosicrucian Fellowship, Questhaven Retreat, Self-Realization Golden World Colony, Table Mountain Ranch, Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, Theosophical Society (Pasadena), Unification Church, and Vedanta Temple (Santa Barbara).

Amos Gerry Beman Scrapbooks, 1830-1858

The scrapbooks provide evidence of the personal and professional life of Amos Gerry Beman, pastor and social activist, between 1830 and 1858. The scrapbooks contain writings, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and printed ephemera by and about Beman. Scrapboks I and II consist of clippings of Beman's letters to the editor and articles by Beman, in addition to newspaper clippings of articles, poetry, and other clippings of interest to Beman. Scrapbook III contains letters of recommendation, journal entries written by Beman in 1838 while living in Hartford, Connecticut, certificates and correspondence pertaining to the founding of the Temple Street African Church in New Haven, Connecticut, deeds, receipts, and other material. Scrapbook IV consists of articles of interest to Beman as well as an articles on the "Colored Men's Convention" (1849) that mentions Beman's role in the convention. The scrapbooks are a window into Beman's work as a teacher, pastor, and social activist in Connecticut during the nineteenth-century, and more broadly, the Temple Street African Church and the African-American community it served in New Haven at this time.

The Papers contain writings and other papers of American author Ruth Pine Furniss. Furniss's writings drew on her struggle with mental illness and her exposure to various medical treatments. Her career as an author is documented in various material, including drafts, printed versions of her writings, contracts with publishers, and copyright records. Some of her poetry, short stories, and articles written in the 1920s, and largely published in magazines and newspapers, are in a scrapbook of clippings. Reception of Furniss's novels, including Gay, Snow, and The Layman Looks at Doctors, is documented in reviews gathered into two scrapbooks. The Papers also include a draft for The Dreamland Tree, an unpublished novel completed in 1952. The correspondence of Furniss's son, W. Todd Furniss, reveal his endeavor to have The Dreamland Tree published following his mother's death.

The William A. Speck Collection of Goetheana: Original Artwork is an artificial collection comprising original artwork that came to Yale from various sources, mostly during the Speck Collection's early decades. It includes some of the Collection's best-known holdings, including an anonymous silhouette made of Goethe in 1786 as well as original sketches and engravings by Goethe. Other artists represented include Wilhelm von Kaulbach, Georg Melchior Kraus, Johann Heinrich Lips, and Moritz Retzsch.

Manuscript, in multiple secretary hands, of a collection of 19 Parliamentary documents, primarily concerning the marriage negotiations between Charles I and the Spanish Infanta Maria. These include the petition of John Digby, Earl of Bristol, asking leave to defend his actions in the Spanish negotiations against his accusers; the information of Thomas, Baron Coventry presented to the House of Lords against Digby; and King Charles I's letter to Digby charging him with misconduct regarding the Spanish match. Also included are the abstract of articles presented by Digby against George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham; Buckingham's impeachment and defense, and a letter by King Philip IV of Spain to Conde Olivares regarding the marriage negotiations.
