The papers consist of a diary kept by Stephen Williams, 1742-1747, of daily life and religious reflection; diaries of his son Andrew Williams, 1783-1785, while teaching school in Cambridge, Massachusetts; and diaries and notes of another son Timothy Williams, 1783 and 1788-1790, which document his education at Yale College and his life in Woodstock and Norwich, Connecticut.

The records consist of orations and poems given at Yale commencement exercises.

The papers consist of correspondence, writings, family papers, financial records, scrapbooks, daguerrotypes, and other material documenting the professional career of Charles Gould Morris and the personal lives of several family members. Morris's political career, his dairy business activities, and his municipal and civic concerns in Connecticut are documented. The letters and papers of family members involved in the settlement of the American frontier and in the Civil War are included, as are papers of Morris's father, Luzon Burritt Morris, a governor of Connecticut.

Chiefly correspondence and legal papers of the law firm founded in New Haven by Henry White's father, Dyer White, in 1785. Henry White joined the firm in 1828. Records of 113 individuals, firms, and estates whose business the firm handled make up the business section of the papers. Also included are a small amount of Dyer White's family correspondence (1784-1836) and college lecture notes, account books related to church activities (1822-1837), and other miscellaneous papers of Henry White.

The Harvey Williams Cushing Papers in the Yale University Library are composed of correspondence, subject files, writings, family papers, artifacts, and writings about Harvey Cushing. The papers document the personal life and professional career of a medical giant and pioneer neurosurgeon. They reveal Cushing as a doctor, teacher, soldier, administrator, bibliophile, and scientist, whose diverse achievements are important to the histories of the Harvard Medical School, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, and the Yale University Medical School and Library, as well as to the history of brain surgery. Harvey Williams Cushing was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 9, 1869. He was the youngest of ten children of Henry Kirke and Betsey Maria (Williams) Cushing. Medicine was a family tradition. His father was a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Western Reserve University. His brother, Edward Fitch, grandfather, and great-grandfather were also physicians. His grandfather, Erastus Cushing, had moved to Cleveland in 1835 from Massachusetts, where the family had become established some two hundred years earlier.

The materials consists of pictures of individuals associated with Yale, including students, faculty, officers, and visitors. Includes portrait photographs, and prints of drawings and paintings.

Correspondence, writings, sermons, diaries, account books, poems, and notes of George Colton of West Hartford, Connecticut and four of his sons. The principal figure in the papers is Henry Martyn Colton, who graduated from Yale College in 1848 and established schools in Middletown, Connecticut and New York City. Included in his papers are college lecture notes, sermons together with outlines and notes, poems, diaries, and travel writings.

The papers consist of correspondence, pamphlets, printed material, scrapbooks, sermons, and other papers relating to members of the Carrington family. Henry Beebee Carrington (1824-1912) and his grandfather, David Lewis Beebe (1763-1803), are two central figures in the papers. Material relating to David Lewis Beebe, including essays and sermons, documents his religious duties in Connecticut and family concerns in Ohio. Henry Beebee Carrington material includes correspondence, a diary, a letterbook, maps, pamphlets, scrapbooks, and other items documenting his experiences as a student at Yale University, as a lawyer practicing in Ohio, and as a commanding officer for Union forces during the Civil War. Carrington's role in military campaigns and treaty negotiations with Indians of the American West is also documented. His design of Fort Philip Kearney, the site of a famous massacre, and treaty negotiations with the Flathead Indians of Montana are detailed in pamphlets, scrapbooks and other papers.

Correspondence, memoranda, reports, printed material, writings, clippings, diaries, photographs, and miscellanea relating to Paul Moody Atkins, a financial management consultant, international economic and banking expert, author, educator, and special liquidator of securities for the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency (1932-1937). Atkins' professional work in Peru (1931), French West Africa (1940-1941), Iran (1943-1945), Greece (1947-1948), and Japan (1948) are documented through correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other material. His role on financial commissions and as a private consultant are further detailed in correspondence with Mrs. Atkins and family members. Financial data from Atkins' service as special liquidator details the security transactions and operations of this office from 1932-1937. Other professional materials document Atkins' participation on the American Commission to Negotiate Peace (1919), the National Management Council (1950-1951), as an educator and lecturer at Rutgers University (1956-1962), and as a private lecturer (1960-1977). Family papers include the World War I diary of Henri Bergier, Atkins' father-in-law, who was a judge in occupied Cabrai, France during the First World War.

The papers consist primarily of sermons preached by Justus Forward between 1754 and 1813. Also included are correspondence, largely on church matters, other church papers, a notebook kept by Forward while at Yale College (1752-1753), and nine diaries (1759-1814) mostly with brief entries. There is one description of the military developments in the French-Indian War for the month of July, 1759. Of particular interest in the correspondence is an exchange with Dr. Martin Phelps, later excommunicated from the church, on the question of communion.
