The papers primarily document the administration of the debt-burdened estate of Auchinleck after the death of Sir Alexander Boswell in 1822. They include business and legal correspondence; accounts, receipts, valuations and other estate records; the process of the settlement of Sir Alexander Boswell's heritable estate; and other financial and personal papers.
The papers also contain material pertaining to the related family of Douglas of Garallan, including land records, financial papers, and business correspondence. In addition, there are letters by Charles Douglas, a planter in Jamaica, concerning many aspects of his life and career, such as his ownership of slaves and opinions about slavery, immigrant life in Jamaica, and the impact of the Napoleonic Wars on the Caribbean. The letters of Patrick Charles Douglas Douglas Boswell describe his efforts to establish himself as a tea planter in India in the early 1880s.

Includes an original watercolor, 2 Dutch prints, 3 English prints, prints of Charles I (1600-49), Lords and Commons as they appeared at Strafford's trial, and Strafford's execution, facsimiles of autographs, and a contemporary printed copy of "The Earle of Straffords last Speech on the Scaffold."

Manuscript, in several unidentified hands, containing tracts on Parliament, verse, etc.

Anonymous 17th century MS. Includes speeches, petitions, messages, and committee proceedings. Most printed in Rushworth, v.i., but the versions in this MS are much longer and more complete. Includes the Commons' remonstrance to the King, April 1626. Signature of Thomas Cole on inside cover and his stamp. From the library of Dr Cox Macro and later of Hudson Gurney. The historical MSS Commission reported on this MS in the XII Report, Part IX, p.123, #XIV.

Collection of 46 manuscripts, in multiple secretary hands, of Parliamentary speeches and miscellaneous notes. Many of the Parliamentary speeches concern the power and influence of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham, including a remonstrance by the House of Commons against the Duke of Buckingham's influence on Charles I; John Digby, Earl of Bristol's response to charges of high treason for his opposition to the Duke of Buckingham; and a speech by Richard Weston, Earl of Portland, conveying King Charles I's displeasure with speeches against the Duke. Other speeches include several complaining about the influence of Catholicism; a speech by Sir Edward Coke on the Petition of Right; and speeches by Charles I and James I to Parliament.

The Sir Charles Blagden Papers contain scientific and travel notes, correspondence, and printed material documenting aspects of the life and scientific work of Sir Charles Blagden. These include observations on travel in England and on the continent in the 1780s; memoranda on scientific experiments and observations, including notes by Lavoisier; letters to his brother, John Blagden Hale; and proof sheets of Philosophical Transactions for 1789.

Collection consists of manuscripts, typescripts, photographs, and other documents relating to fishing, flies for fishing, and fishing trips taken in England and North America. Most of the items were formerly in the collection of David Wagstaff.

Thecollection contains: two manuscripts of carols, a single "Noel- Nouveau" and a collection of carols by Raymondus, Curio Parochiae St. Stephani as well as two letters regarding Reed's collection and a notebook Reed kept on his research on the history of carols.

The Liebert Autograph Collection contains chiefly British (as well as other European and American) historical and literary manuscripts and autographs, including items by James Boswell, Jr., Sir Joseph Banks, Marie Corelli, Eugene V. Debs, Camille Pissarro, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Thomas Henry Huxley, Samuel Johnson, Ouida, and Alfred Tennyson. The Liebert Correspondence consists of letters written to Liebert by Ian Fleming, Beverly Nichols, John Cowper Powys, and Thornton Wilder.
