The collection consists chiefly of correspondence, with smaller amounts of diaries, writings, notebooks, artworks, photographs, and other personal papers. Also present are papers of others closely associated with Gregory, including papers of Llewelyn Powys; writings of John Cowper Powys and Edna St. Vincent Millay; and diaries of Gertrude Powys. Accompanying these is a small amount of correspondence and notes of Rosemary Manning, concerning Gregory's papers.

The papers document the personal life and literary career of Bryher. Her extensive correspondence includes letters from H. D., Robert MacAlmon, Kenneth MacPherson, Norman Holmes Pearson, Sylvia Beach, Norman Douglas, Horace Gregory, Islay Lyons, and Edith Sitwell, and from many other
figures in the fields of literature, psychoanalysis, and film. There are manuscripts of many of her works, including fragments of an unpublished volume of autobiography; financial and personal papers; material collected by Bryher on "boys' books" authors such as R. M. Ballantyne and G. A. Henty; and documentation of Bryher's interest in film and the making of Borderline (1930).

The Cleanth Brooks Papers contain correspondence, manuscripts of books, textbooks, essays, lectures, and various other shorter works, classroom material, professional papers, writings of others, and personal papers which document aspects of the life and career of Cleanth Brooks.

The papers document the life and activities of Scofield Thayer and the history of Dial Magazine under his ownership. They include the surviving Dial office files, with correspondence by Alyse Gregory, Marianne Moore, Gilbert Seldes, Kenneth Burke, and J. Sibley Watson; manuscripts, typescripts and corrected galleys of submissions to the magazine by authors including Ezra Pound, T. S. Eliot, D. H. Lawrence, George Santayana, William Butler Yeats, and Glenway Wescott; and advertising material. Thayer's own papers include his extensive correspondence with these literary figures and others, including E. E. Cummings, Sigmund Freud, Thomas Mann, and Cuthbert Wright; drafts of poetry and essays; financial papers; and documentation of his art collection.

The papers contain correspondence, writings, literary manuscripts, notes, subject files, scrapbooks, and printed material documenting Dorothy Norman's activities, writings, and publications including the journal she founded and edited, Twice A Year: a Book of Literature, the Arts, and Civil Liberties. The papers also document Norman's relationships with the photographer Alfred Stieglitz and his circle of artists and writers, in particular her involvement with his gallery An American Place, with her husband Edward A. Norman and their families, and with prominent Indians including Ananda K. Coomaraswamy and Indira Gandhi.

The Ezra Pound Papers document the literary career and political interests of Ezra Pound. Major correspondents include Richard Aldington, George Antheil, William Bird, T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, James Laughlin, Wyndham Lewis, Marianne Moore, Odon Por, and Henry Swabey. The collection contains manuscripts of many of Pound's works, including the Cantos, Guide to Kulchur, and scripts of Pound's wartime radio broadcasts.

The Ezra Pound Papers Addition consists of material related to the life and career of the American poet Ezra Pound and includes correspondence, manuscripts, and a small quantity of personal papers. Correspondents include Homer and Isobel Pound, George Antheil, Basil Bunting, T. S. Eliot, James Laughlin, Marianne Moore, William Carlos Williams, and Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. Manuscripts inclue draft portions of The Cantos, autograph scores of Le Testament de Villon and Cavalcanti, and drafts of essays.

The Furioso papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts of submissions, editorial board files, and other office files relating to the publishing history of Furioso; a Magazine of Verse (1939-1953). Correspondents include E. E. Cummings, Richard Eberhart, Weldon Kees, Lawrence Olson, Ezra Pound, Peter Viereck, and William Carlos Williams. Manuscripts are primarily typescripts and setting typescripts of submissions to Furioso. The office files include advertising and publicity material, the correspondence and decisions files of the editorial board, and financial documents.

The papers contain correspondence with artistic and literary friends, Plank art work, art work of others, writings of friends, and a small quantity of personal papers. Prominent correspondents include H. D., Sylvia Townsend Warner, and Patrick White.

The Gladys Campbell Papers contain correspondence, writings, and other papers that document the work of the poet Gladys Campbell and other members of the University of Chicago Poetry Club, as well as her relationships with other poets. The papers also contain writings of George Dillon, Charles Bell, Janet Lewis, Maurice Lesemann, Naomi Clark, and Morton Zabel. The papers span the years 1914 to 1995.

The collection contains miscellaneous manuscript items, notes, and ephemera related to Moore which were found among the Wescott and Wheeler papers.

The Glenway Wescott Papers consist of correspondence, journals, notebooks, manuscripts, personal and financial papers, research files,photographs, graphic items, clippings, objects, and audiotapes. The material documents Wescott's life, work, and personal relationships with many noted artists, writers, and performers of the 20th century including his long-time companion, Monroe Wheeler, many of whose papers are included here.
Series I, Correspondence, consists of six subseries: Wescott-Wheeler Correspondence (letters between the two men); Wescott Family Correspondence; Wescott Family Third-party Correspondence; Wheeler Family Correspondence; General Correspondence; and Third-party Correspondence.
Series II contains Wescott's Journals and Notebooks, an extensive collection of personal records detailing the author's life and thoughts from the late 1930s up to shortly before his death. Wescott's "journals" are in the form of three-ring binders, filled with notes, clippings, copies of letters, and images.
Series III, Writings, represents a portion of Wescott's original works. The writings are divided into five subseries: General Writings (including drafts of an autobiography, "The Odor of Rosemary"); Writings about People; Lectures, Broadcasts and Speeches; Writings about Glenway Wescott; and Writings of Others.
Personal Papers contains a range of material documenting the various activities of Wescott and Wheeler arranged in 18 subseries. Financial Papers, gathers together material in a chronological run, from 1925 through 1986. Series VI contains Wescott's own Research Files of various subjects. Photographs are grouped into ten subseries. Graphic Items consists of various image materials. Clippings covers a wide range of subjects, with a focus on art, book reviews, current events, essays and articles, and people. Series X, American Academy of Arts and Letters, concerns Glenway Wescott's membership in this organization, including the years of his presidency, 1960-62. Objects consists of pieces of realia received with the archive. Audio-Visual Materials is a collection of sound recordings and a videotape.
Series XIII, Additions transferred from the Monroe Wheeler Papers, contains items relating to GW which came to light during the processing of the Monroe Wheeler Papers and which could not be easily integrated into the existing archival arrangement.

The collection consists of correspondence and writings of American writer Harry Roskolenko. Correspondents include William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, Carl Sandburg, Katharine Anne Porter, John Dos Passos, Dwight Macdonald, William Saroyan, Wallace Stevens, Cleanth Brooks, Archibald MacLeish, Lewis Mumford, John Wheelwright, and James Laughlin, among other American poets, editors, critics, and publishers.
Writings include a manuscript poem titled "Perfidious Albion," a typescript play titled "Journey of Five (Of Whom Three Were One)," and a typescript article, "What Poets Do For a Living (A Study of the Poet and his Predicament)." The article summarizes the results of an income survey that Roskolenko sent to fellow poets in April 1949, and is accompanied by response forms from 22 poets. These include Langston Hughes, William Carlos Williams, and Mark Van Doren.

The papers document the personal life and literary career of H. D. Major correspondents include Richard Aldington, Bryher, Helen Wolle Doolittle, Robert McAlmon, Brigit Patmore, Norman Holmes Pearson, George Plank, and Ezra Pound. There are manuscripts of many of her works, including Her (1927), The Walls Do Not Fall (1944), Helen in Egypt (1961), and her memoir End to Torment (1958). The collection also contains personal papers, subject files, and photographs, including items related to the film Borderline (1930).

The Hound & Horn records contain correspondence, drafts of writings, financial records, and ephemera relating to the literary quarterly. The records feature original letters from well-known Modernist era authors during the tenure of the journal from the late 1920s through mid 1930s, including Bryher, Jean Cocteau, E. E. Cummings, René Daumal, T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, François Mauriac, Marianne Moore, Ezra Pound, Stephen Spender, Gertrude Stein, Robert Penn Warren, William Carlos Williams, and Louis Zukosfky, among others. There are also letters from publishers and editors, copies of outgoing letters, third-party letters, financial and legal records, and scattered drafts. There are drafts, some corrected, of work by Cummings, Daumal, Bernard Faÿ, Varian Fry, James Hanley, Pound, Spender, and Williams. The Pound files contain corrected typescript drafts for Cantos XXVIII, XXIX, XXX.

The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, event files, and personal papers that document Josephine Boardman Crane's role as a socialite, patron, and philanthropist. These materials record Crane's daily activities, including a broad range of cultural events and numerous social contacts.

The Kathleen Foster Campbell Papers consist of correspondence, writings and printed materials that document the relationship between Kathleen Foster Campbell and friends from the University of Chicago Poetry Club, as well as her writings and writings of others. The papers span the years 1924 to 1992.

The papers contain personal correspondence, correspondence concerning The Nation and the American Men of Letters series, drafts of her autobiography and other writings, and personal papers.

The collection consists of writings, correspondence, photographs, and other materials documenting the personal and professional affairs of Modernist-era painter Marsden Hartley. Writings contain notes and drafts, autograph and typescript, for numerous writings, chiefly essays. Correspondence is spread out over the many groupings in the collection and features large files of outgoing letters to Norma Berger, Hartley's niece, Carl Sprinchorn, and Adelaide S. Kuntz, as well as incoming letters from artists, writers, cultural figures, and institutions. Correspondents include Hart Crane, Robert McAlmon, Henry Miller, Marianne Moore, Arnold Ronnebeck, Elizabeth Sparhawk-Jones, Gertrude Stein, Alfred Stieglitz, Carl Van Vechten, William Carlos Williams, and Edmund Wilson. There are also third-party letters between Berger and others concerning Hartley's work. Other materials include photographs, three oil paintings by Hartley, notebooks, and objects.

The papers contain correspondence, journals, subject files, and writings that document Josephson's life and provide information on the subjects of his research.
