Joshua's Tract Conservation and Historic Trust is a membership organization formed in 1966 to receive gifts of money and land, or to buy land of historic, aesthetic, or scientific value, to be preserved for the benefit of future generations. Its region of concern includes the northeast Connecticut towns of Andover, Ashford, Chaplin, Columbia, Coventry, Franklin, Hampton, Lebanon, Mansfield, Scotland, Tolland, Willington, and Windham. Together with Joshua's Trust conservation restriction easements these properties create significant green corridors throughout the region, often abutting other agency's protected lands, watersheds, and trails. Records document the operations, activities and programs of the organization and include founding documents, by-laws, annual reports, meeting minutes, subject files, newsclippings, photographs and publications.

In February 1891, a group of sixteen peach growers under the leadership of the Secretary of Agriculture, Theodore S. Gold, met in the State Capitol to talk about the formation of a fruit society. In December of that same year, forty growers met and elected John Smith of New Britain as president. Since its founding, the Connecticut Pomological Society has been involved in development of pest management and disease control for Connecticut's orchards.

The collection contains materials about Thomas J. Dodd that have been donated by individuals other than the Dodd Family.

Materials associated with the United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America, Unity Lodge, Local 251, which represented workers at the Pratt & Whitney Machine Tools Division of Niles-Bement-Pond in West Hartford, Connecticut, from 1938 to 1948. Collection consists of a membership dues book, a large scrapbook of newspaper clippings and bulletins involving a strike of the union members at the West Hartford plant from March to August 1946, the local's charter, and other administrative records.

Papers of Larry Bogart, anti-nuclear power activist, are comprised of correspondence, administrative records, press releases, newsclippings, fliers, legal documents, scientific reports, government reports, newsletters, periodicals, typescripts, interviews, maps, books, audio recordings and photographs. The bulk of the collection dates from 1966 to 1986. The collection chronicles the extent of information available on nuclear energy as it was being published and circulated in local newspapers, government reports, books by American and European publishers, popular periodicals, the alternative press, and by individuals.

Connecticut Countdown was a non-profit organization established in 1983 to create a forum for public discussion of issues involved in preventing nuclear war. Connecticut Countdown evolved from discussions begun in the fall of 1983 among a small group of Hartford area citizens concerned about the risk of nuclear war. These discussions were initiated by members of the local chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility. The stimulus for their interest was a national meeting of Physicians for Social Responsibility attended by two members of the Hartford Chapter. The collection contains the administrative records of the organization, correspondence, publications, and news releases.

Curbstone Press, a non-profit press and literary arts organization, was founded in 1975. Located in Willimantic, Connecticut, Curbstone's founders and Co-Directors Alexander "Sandy" Taylor and Judith Ayer Doyle focused the organization's activities on education and publishing works that encouraged a deeper understanding between world cultures. Curbstone's mission encompassed two goals: to publish creative literature that promotes human rights and cultural understanding and to bring writers and programs deep into the community to promote literacy and an appreciation of literature. The collection, which includes manuscripts, correspondence, books, financial info, and promotional materials, provides an overview of the development of a nonprofit literary press that moved from inhouse production, including bookbinding by hand), to desktop publishing, winning some design awards along the way.

The collection consists primarily of the correspondence of Robert Hauser and Michael McCurdy, friends and business associates from 1967 to 2003, as well as detailed documentation of the their collaboration in the creation of Face to Face. In addition, the collection contains prospectus mailers, signed prints, original wood block engravings, and photographs ranging from 1967 to 2000, which document both the friendship and professional collaboration of the two men.

Working from her Woodbridge, CT, home, Lucille B. Ritvo has been active in the state's political arena for decades. She chaired the Caucus of Connecticut Democrats, representing the liberal wing of the party in the early 1980s. She has worked in many political campaigns and chaired Joe Duffy's 1970 senatorial campaign (CT, 3rd District).

The Center was created in 1969 to facilitate interdepartmental support for research, study and outreach focused on the black experience. The collection contains materials concerning the establishment of the Center and programs of its activities from its establishment through 1980.
