The papers consist of correspondence, a small quantity of personal papers, and printed material relating to the life and career of Royal Cortissoz. Correspondents include Henry Bacon, Bernard Berenson, Joseph Duveen, John La Farge, Clarence Mackay, Whitelaw Reid, Edmund Clarence Stedman, William Winter, and other critics and friends. The personal papers include drafts of articles and lectures by Cortissoz and awards presented to him. Printed material includes copies of writings by Cortissoz, articles concerning him, and miscellaneous programs and invitations.
Also included are notes, memoranda and a sketchbook by John La Farge, collected by Cortissoz in the course of research.

Papers include correspondence relating chiefly to social engagements, writings by Cox (drafts and printed versions), auction catalogs from Cox's homes in New York and Connecticut, and books inscribed to Cox by their authors. Scrapbooks contain biographical information on Cox as well as clippings of articles written by and about Cox. Photographs include portraits of Cox, her friends, and her homes. Objects include shoes and dresses worn by Cox.

This finding aid encompasses accessions of single manuscripts and small groups of manuscripts and other papers, by or pertaining to Edward Gordon Craig, acquired by the library from a variety of sources. Series I,Hamill and Barker Purchase (1912-1958), contains letters from a variety of correspondents to Craig's friend Ewald Junge, who also collected Craig material. The letters include five folders of letters from Craig, and notes on Craig's collection of his own personal papers. Series II, Materials from Other Sources (1905-1963), includes an annotated copy of Craig's autobiography, Index to the Story of My Days, with clippings, photographs and proofs of woodcuts laid in, and letters, notes and a specimen page removed from the volume and foldered; one letter from Craig to Theodore Sizer accompanied by a small etching; two woodcuts by Craig inscribed to Haldane and Mabel Macfall; forty photographs relating to Craig's scenic models for the 1912 Moscow Art Theatre production of Hamlet; and prospectus, dummy, first proof and revised proof with corrections of Craig's book Towards a New Theatre.

The Louise Crane and Victoria Kent Papers document the personal and professional lives of Louise Crane, Victoria Kent, and Josephine Boardman Crane, and consist of correspondence, subject files, personal papers, financial documents, clippings, photographs, and slides. The papers provide evidence of the Crane family's philanthropic work and involvement in a number of cultural associations, including the China Institute in America, Harpsichord Music Society, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Museum of Modern Art. Correspondents include Elizabeth Bishop and Loren MacIver. The Papers provide insight into a prominent philanthropic family as well as cultural activities in New York City during the mid- to late twentieth century. Victoria Kent's involvement in politics and cultural affairs is also represented in the Papers. Victoria Kent's correspondence and subject files are a window into the activities of the expatriate Spanish community in the United States following the Spanish Civil War. The papers also relate to Crane and Kent's work to publish the Spanish-language magazine Ibérica as well as their personal relationship.

The Margaret Croyden papers contain writings, research material, photographs, audiovisual material, and personal papers. Writings include drafts, printed versions, and photocopies of printed versions of reviews and essays on theater-related topics as well as corrected drafts of her fourth book, The Years in Between (Xlibris, 2011). Video recordings appear to date chiefly from Croyden's tenure with the CBS TV series Camera Three during the 1970s. There are audio recordings and other materials relating to theater director Peter Brook and possibly to Croyden's Conversations with Peter Brook: 1970-2000 (Theatre Communications Group, 2003). Other materials in the collection include clippings, computer disks, correspondence, photographs, a laptop, and slides.
