Brinton Turkle was born 15 August 1915, in Alliance, Ohio, the son of Edgar Harold (a funeral director) and Ada (Cassaday) Turkle. He attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon University, 1933-1936) and School of Boston Museum of Art (1938-1940).

The collection contains publications, proposals, petitions, photographs and plans for the "new community" and documentation of the Greater Hartford Process, Inc.

Author, translator and professor of English, Rex Warner was born 9 March 1905, in Birmingham, England, the son of Frederick Ernest (a clergyman) and Kathleen (Luce) Warner. Educated at Wadham College, Oxford (B.A. with honors, 1928), Warner was a member of the British Home Guard from 1942 until 1945. He was the Tallman Professor of Classics at Bowdoin College (1961-1962) before joining the English faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1962. Warner retired from the University after eleven years and died in 1986.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), Canel Lodge 700 was founded on 20 April 1959. The lodge, located in Middletown, Connecticut, was organized by machinists at the Canel Atomic Testing Lab. In 1959, the local gained collective bargaining recognition from the Canel Lab. Pratt and Whitney took over the plant circa 1965. Pratt and Whitney continued union recognition after the takeover.

The collection contains documentation of Mr. Lumsden's activities and association with the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Greater Hartford Corporation, Hartford City Council from the 1960s through the 1980s.

The Greater Hartford Labor Council (GHLC) was formed in 1957. All local unions belonging to an international affiliated to the AFL-CIO or affiliated to the AFL-CIO directly are able to join the central labor body in their region upon payment of dues.

The collection contains correspondence to and from Charles E. Waring and Geraldine H. Waring. Dr. Waring was a professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut from 1946 until his retirement in 1979.

The collection contains manuscripts of articles, book chapters, photographs and negatives collected or authored by Dr. Camp for his research. Dr. Camp was a Professor of Botany and Chair of the Botany Department at the University of Connecticut from 1953 until his death in 1963.
