Appointed principal and professor of agriculture at the August 1881 meeting of the Board of Trustees, Solomon Mead of New Haven is described as a "practical farmer and gardener". He oversaw the first two years of the Storrs Agricultural School.

The collection contains administrative records, correspondence, legal documents, financial records, publications, and fliers (pamphlets, handouts, announcements), related to the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA), which has represented the professional staff at UConn since 1972. UCPEA is the exclusive bargaining agent for more than 1,600 professional staff at UConn.

The Provost's Office is responsible for University matters pertaining to academic activities and policy, including jurisdiction over the various schools, as well as faculty and student matters. In addition, the Office is responsible for the daily internal operations of the University Senate and at one point, the Board of Trustees. The Provost's Office was established in 1950 when the Provost assumed the functions of the Dean of the University. In 1975, the Office was abolished and its functions were assigned to the new Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Finance and Administration. These functions were merged under the administration of the Chancellor in 1991. The name of the office changed from Chancellor's Office back to Provost's Office in 2000.

The collection contains the correspondence, minutes, printed materials, and financial records of the Puerto Rican and Latino Studies Institute Records from 1972 to 2006. The collection also contains the Institute's administrative records, publications, fliers, news clippings, and legal documents.

The collection contains administrative records documenting the programs and activities sponsored by the Center.

The collection contains newspapers, brochures, pamphlets and binders of materials documenting programs and activities of the Rainbow Center.

Records from the Avery Point (Groton), Greater Hartford, Hartford (Downtown), Stamford, Torrington (closed) and Waterbury Regional Campuses of the University of Connecticut.

The Office of the Registrar compiles information about undergraduate courses and programs. The staff registers students, creates and maintains their records, provides certified documents, issues transcripts, processes grades, monitors NCAA student athletes' academic progress, and audits degrees. A significant portion of the collection is restricted from general use. In 2017, the Office of Graduate Records was incorporated into the Office of the Registrar.

The collection consists of the minutes of the executive council of the Research Foundation. Subsequent donations have included historical correspondence and reports, as well as more recent information documenting UConn 2000 programs and similar activities.
