The Clyde Brion Davis Papers document his work as a journalist and novelist in the United States during the early twentieth century. The Papers contain correspondence and writings as well as personal papers such as business records. The Papers also include correspondence and writings documenting Martha Wirt Davis's writing career.

The collection contains correspondence, writings, and personal papers documenting the life and literary activities of American poet and publisher Coburn Britton. The correspondence features a nearly three-decade long exchange between Britton and Jack Sullivan, some of which was compiled and published as Letters from Jack: Sex & Hell in Manhattan and Backwoods Maine (2002). In addition, there are small groups of correspondence with others, including Glenway Wescott, Edward Dahlberg, and Lincoln Kirstein, dating chiefly from the 1970s, as well as approximately 150 postcards from graphic artist Willyum Rowe, with whom Britton collaborated on An ABeCedarium for Poets and Readers (1989). Many if not most of the postcards from Rowe are decorated, for example, with cutouts and stamps, providing a large group of postcard or mail art from the period. Writings include printed versions of Britton's Second Seasons (1982), Lesser Goods and Other Poems (1987), and An ABeCedarium for Poets and Readers (1989), and drafts of the later Adrian Sonnets (1995) and shorter works. Others materials include photographs of family and friends, printed materials, and documents.

Manuscripts, in multiple hands, of a collection of 233 letters by various notables on numerous subjects, many of them concerning personal affairs. The first volume, for example, contains notes on "Eastward Hoe" and "Old Plays" by S. Pegge and letters by George North on the value of old coins; the second volume contains letters by Voltaire, Horace Walpole, Edmund Burke, Charles Lamb, Robert Peel, and Hannah More, as well as a poem titled "On Faulkners Edition of Swift" by Sir Walter Scott; and the third volume includes a letter by "C. J. Fox" concerning bets "on the Oatlands Stake."
Volume I contains items 1-72; vol. II, 73-179; and vol. III 180-233.

This collection consists of collecting cards, advertising cards, sticker books, sheet music, and printed ephemera that document popular culture images of the United States and North America as viewed chiefly by countries throughout Europe, including France, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, and Italy. The collection provides depictions of American subjects and themes from primarily European viewpoints used by companies to advertise their products or as premiums accompanying products. Subjects particularly well represented include Indigenous peoples of North America and the American West, as well as natural landscapes and historical events, such as national parks and the American Civil War. Prominent individuals represented in the collection include United States presidents, particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and historical figures including Daniel Boone, Sitting Bull, Kit Carson, and Wyatt Earp.

60 identification photographs of 59 individuals arrested in connection with the Everett Massacre, an armed confrontation in Everett, Washington, between local authorities and members of the Industrial Workers of the World union (also referred to as "Wobblies") who had come from Seattle in support of striking shingle workers, on 1916 November 5. Identifications are stamped on the versos and completed in manuscript.
