Papers, manuscripts, memorabilia, publications, and related materials documenting Professor Emeritus Thomas L. Long's work as a scholar, teacher, editor and collector. The materials were collected by Dr. Long over three decades of teaching and scholarly writing.

Thomas Reed Lewis, Jr. (March 4, 1940-January 26, 2017), was the author of Silk Along Steel: the Story of the South Manchester Railroad (Pequot Press, 1976). He was a Professor of Geography at the University of Connecticut and Manchester Community College. The collection consists of maps, newclippings, timetables, correspondence, writings, photographs and postcards Dr. Lewis gathered for the writing of his book.

Author of books on railroads in the United States and compiler of information on how to find research materials about railroads in libraries and archives. The Papers contains three volumes of photocopies of newspaper articles about topics pertaining to the New Haven Railroad and its predecessor lines and indexes and lists compiled by Mr. Taber about the availability of research material and locomotives.

Thorvald Hammer was born in 1893. He was a leading industrialist and engineer in the state of Connecticut for over fifty years. He graduated from Yale University in 1918 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the First World War. Thorvald Hammer became the president of the Malleable Iron Fittings Company (MIF) in 1935. An accomplished engineer, Mr. Hammer contributed to the development of the galvanizing process and was the holder of several original patents. After resigning from the presidency, Mr. Hammer assumed the position of Chairman of the Board. He died in 1987 at the age of 93.

The papers of author Tom Clark containing manuscripts of poetry, fiction, biographies and baseball writing, notebooks and artwork (published and unpublished). Also includes correspondence, research notes and other materials, inteviews and drafts of Clark's Charles Olson: The Allegory of a Poet's Life (New York: Norton, 1991).

The Tomie dePaola Collection contains Tomie's artwork, sketch books, drafts, studies and paintings from the beginning of his career through his college years and his long career as an author and illustrator. The Collection also contains a significant number of marketing items based on his artwork.

Born and raised in London, poet Tom Raworth travelled and worked in the United States and Mexico in the 1970s, returning to England in 1977 to be Resident Poet at King's College, Cambridge. Since 1966 he published more than forty books and pamphlets of poetry, prose and translations, in several countries. He was editor of three literary/art magazines: outburst (1961-63); Before Your Very Eyes! (1964); and Infolio (1986-87). During the 1960s he also ran two small presses - Matrix and Goliard. Since the early 1970s he has read his work in more than 20 countries. Raworth died in February 2017.

The collection contains one ink, crayon (?) and watercolor sketch.

Collection of children's book author and illustrator Triana Schart Hyman. The collection contains correspondence, illustrations, manuscripts, and notes related to her and other authors' works.

Theodore Sedgwick Gold was born in Madison, New York. T.S. Gold graduated from Yale College in 1838 and then spent four years studying and teaching at academies in Goshen and Waterbury. He moved to Cornwall in 1842 to pursue a career in farming. Mr. Gold was a trustee of the Storrs Agricultural School from 1881 to 1901 and took an active role in promoting the school's growth and development throughout his lifetime.
