The collection consists of payroll and other financial documents of the Housatonic Railroad and, to a lesser extent, the Naugatuck Railroad, with a very few other financial documents from other railroads in southerm New England in the latter half of the 19th centtury.

Seckerson became head of the English Department at Connecticut Agricultural College in 1921. His development of the department assisted in the conversion from a vocational college into a state university in 1939. His management of the dramatic club laid the foundation for the future Department of Speech and Drama. In addition to teaching, Mr. Seckerson was an ordained minister and returned to pastoral duties after retiring from the University in 1946. At the time of his retirement, the English Department was the largest department on the UConn campus.

The collection contains materials associated with businessman and journalist Howard W. Palmer. Palmer was the owner of the Greenwich Press from 1926 to 1941.

Howard A. Reed was Professor of History (1967-1989) and Director of International and Intercultural Studies at the University of Connecticut (1967-1971).

H. P. & E. Day, Inc., of Seymour, Connecticut, manufactured hard rubber for pens and mechanical pencils. Records include administrative records, product orders and inventories, property and legal documents, financial records, and examples of the company's products. Also included is information about the predecessor and successor companies, Austin G. Day Company and Waterman Pen Company.

Hugh Clark received his bachelor's degree from Clark University in 1934 and a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan in 1941. He was employed by the University of Iowa from 1945 to 1947, when he joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut. Clark specialized in developmental biology and retired from the University in 1983. The collection contains correspondence, administrative, professional and personnel files relating to Clark's responsibilities and interests.

This collection comprises a variety of 19th century photographs including albumen prints, cyanotypes, tintypes, stereographs, cartes-de-visite and cabinet cards.

Collected by Douglas Hyland, former Director of the New Britain Museum of Art and his wife Alice Hyland, the Hyland Collection of Illustrated Children's Books includes works of children's literature published between 1895 and 2014.
