Resident of Waterbury, Connecticut, and historian of Connecticut business and industry. Collection includes collected literature about the early iron industry in the United States, particularly Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The collection contains drawings (cartoons) created by Mr. Chesson during and after the time he was a student at the University of Connecticut. The cartoons illustrate a college student's perspective of the major issues of the time. They refer to topics such as the Korean War, World War II, and military scenes in general, as well as college life and life at the University of Connecticut.

Collection contains essays, articles, poetry, music, commentaries, critical reviews, speeches, video recordings and musical recordings written, performed and collected by Fred Ho [Asian American Musician, composer, writer and activist].

The Fred Otto Makowsky Papers consist of photographs taken by Makowsky and papers collected by him. The photographs consist of over 4000 images of New Haven Railroad and other American steam and electric locomotives, multiple unit cars, and trolleys, and scenes of Stamford, Connecticut.

Gael Turnbull was born 7 April 1928, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He attended Cambridge University (B.A., 1948) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.D., 1951). Awarded the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation Prize (1965) and Alice Hunt Bartlett Prize (1968), Turnbull has been a Physician in general practice and anesthesiologist in Worcestershire, England, since 1951. His poetry has been published since 1954.

Correspondence

Contains individual manuscript items collected by Gaines dating from 1786-1842, including correspondence, petitions, legal documents, receipts, and reports concerning such issues as slave trade, Quakers, taxes, state of the Treasury, etc. Other materials in the collection include research notes and correspondence with fellow collectors and librarians relating to Gaines's collecting activities and historical and bibliographical publications; and inventories and notes on items in his collections.

Garry A. Miles was an instructor at the University of Connecticut from 1933 (Extension, Asst. Poultryman 1933-?; Instructor, Poultry Husbandry by 1940-1943).
