Malawista proposed to patent "Two types of cryopreservable cytoplasts from human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) that maintain motile, phagocytic, and microbial function." He submitted an Invention Disclosure form to Yale but was informed by Robert Bickerton of the Office of Cooperative Research that the invention was not patentable "in its present stage of development."
