a letter in English by the King of
Poland, Stanislaus Augustus
(1732-1798), to an old English
friend at Danzig. Vigor comments
that "all the Northern Monarchs are
not all monsters, tho one (alas of
our sex) is so," an allusion to
Catherine the Great of Russia.
