This series is arranged chronologically by research project and within each project by type of film. The series contains materials from Mahler's tic syndrome studies, the investigation of symbiotic child psychosis, the separation-individuation studies, and the teaching and project films undertaken by the Margaret S. Mahler Psychiatric Research Foundation. The research films consist of original film footage, copy film footage, positive prints, and duplicate negative film documenting observations of the study children. The series contains both black and white and color film.
