Series II "Correspondence of Bancel La Farge," includes letters to and from Bancel La Farge, grouped together and arranged alphabetically by the correspondent's name. Letters written to Mabel La Farge (Mrs. Bancel La Farge) have been filed into her husband's correspondence.

Series III, "Correspondence of Henry Adams La Farge," includes letters to and from La Farge, arranged chronologically. All of the correspondence, with few exceptions, is related to the work of John La Farge. The correspondents are owners of La Farge art works, museum officials, art historians, and others.

Series I, "Correspondence of John La Farge," includes letters to and from John La Farge, grouped together and arranged alphabetically by the name of the correspondent. Unidentified letters and correspondence of others have been placed at the end of the series.
