Note: Ximena was a college friend of Barbara Howes from Bennington College (and coeditor of Chimera magazine) and remained a close friend throughout their lives. Cary F. Baynes, Ximena's mother, worked with Dr. Carl Jung and introduced Howes to the Jungs. Barbara attended several tagungs at the Eranos Conferences in Geneva and spent weekends with the Jungs in Ascona.

One folder of early writings from grade school: short stories, two examination books from 1929, a short story entitled "The Adventurers," as well as a six-page packet of cartoon-like pencil drawings and five pages of typewritten nonsense poems by Edward Lear.
