Collection contains essays, articles, poetry, music, commentaries, critical reviews, speeches, video recordings and musical recordings written, performed and collected by Fred Ho [Asian American Musician, composer, writer and activist].

Contains individual manuscript items collected by Gaines dating from 1786-1842, including correspondence, petitions, legal documents, receipts, and reports concerning such issues as slave trade, Quakers, taxes, state of the Treasury, etc. Other materials in the collection include research notes and correspondence with fellow collectors and librarians relating to Gaines's collecting activities and historical and bibliographical publications; and inventories and notes on items in his collections.

George W. Heinold, lifelong resident of Madison, Connecticut, was an author on outdoor life and fishing who wrote extensively on his experiences primarily along the Connecticut shoreline. He published regularly in such periodicals as Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, and Readers' Digest.

George Safford Torrey was born 14 March 1891 in Boston, Massachusetts. Torrey was hired in 1915 as an instructor of Botany at the Connecticut Agricultural College and in 1928 received tenure and was appointed Head of the Botany Department. Torrey retired from the University in 1953 and died in 1977.

The Greater Hartford Labor Council (GHLC) was formed in 1957. All local unions belonging to an international affiliated to the AFL-CIO or affiliated to the AFL-CIO directly are able to join the central labor body in their region upon payment of dues.

Harleigh Bradley Trecker was born 11 February 1911 in Calery, Illinois. Trecker attended George Williams College (B.S., 1934) and the University of Chicago (M.A., 1938) before embarking upon a career in social work. From 1938 until 1941, Trecker was an instructor at George Williams College and in 1941; he accepted a position at the University of Southern California. In 1951, Trecker accepted the position of Dean, School of Social Work at the University of Connecticut; a position he retained until 1968. From 1968 until his retirement in 1977, Trecker held the position of Professor of Social Work. Trecker's research focused on social work administration and boards of community service agencies. Harleigh Trecker died in 1986.

Poet and novelist Harold Norse was born 6 July 1916, in New York, N.Y. He attended Brooklyn College (now Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, B.A., 1938) and New York University (M.A., 1951).

Professor of Political Science at the University of Connecticut from 1971 to 1984, Seidman was involved with the creation of the Marshall Plan and the development of the European Recovery Corporation under President Truman. He played a major role in the passage of the St. Lawrence Seaway Project, testified on the admission of Alaska and Hawaii into statehood and on the government's role towards the territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, the Panama Canal and Ryker Island.

The Hill Papers primarily consist of family correspondence to and from Henry Hill. Other correspondents include his wife, Lucy M.R. Hill, several of their ten children and various family relations. In addition, the collection contains materials pertaining to the business activities of the Hill and Russel families, particularly in regard to the acquisition of property.

Hilary Knight is a New York-based illustrator for children's books and magazines. This collection contains preliminary and finished artwork, manuscripts, galleys, proofs, and dummies pertaining to 30 of the illustrator's published books and numerous published articles.
