The collection consists of material created and accumulated by Larry Fagin, stemming from his individual and collaborative work as a poet and editor, and, as well as his work as a teacher, filmmaker, artist, choreographer, and journalist. It also documents his personal and working relationships with other poets and writers associated with the New York School. Material includes correspondence, printed material, typescripts of poems, essays, translations, and film scripts, publicity material for readings, lectures, and publications, interview transcripts, teaching files, collages, an 8 mm motion picture, and other material. The bulk of the collection consists of files compiled by Fagin according to correspondent and/or subject, including extensive files for Glen Baxter, Bill Berkson, Jack Collom, Clark Coolidge, Michael Friedman, John Godfrey, Naropa Institute, Ron Padgett, Poetry Project at St. Mark's, Judith Reifman, and Anne Waldman, among others.
