The T. C. Wilson Papers consist of correspondence, writings, and personal papers relating to the life and career of American poet-critic Theodore Carl Wilson.

The collection consists of letters, manuscripts and other publication material, and other papers related to Thornton Wilder. Included are extensive letters to his close friends Amy Wertheimer and William Layton; letters of literary advice to Joe Etta Lee Clarke and Hester Pickman; and materials concerning his publicist, Lee Keedick, and his publisher, Harper and Row.

The collection consists chiefly of correspondence with family, friends, and literary colleagues; and writings, accompanied by related material. There are smaller amounts of personal papers, printed material, photographs, memorabilia, and audio recordings. The material documents Wilder's life and work, in particular his career as a successful novelist and playwright.
Series I, Correspondence, consists of four subseries: Family Correspondence; General Correspondence; First Name Only and Unidentified Correspondence; and Third Party Correspondence. Wilder's correspondence with family members, notably with his sister Isabel, is extensive and contains much information on both his personal and professional activities.
General Correspondence consists mainly of letters received by Wilder and particularly documents his literary activities and public reception after the success of Our Town in 1938. Correspondents include Garson Kanin, Michael Myerberg, Vivien Leigh, Louise Talma, Max Beerbohm, Vincent Sheean, Gertrude Stein, Glenway Wescott, and Herberth Herlitschka.
Series II, Writings, contains excellent documentation of Wilder's works, including holograph and typescript drafts of all of his major writings; extensive materials relating to the production and adaptation histories of Our Town and The Skin of Our Teeth; and review and publicity files for both plays and novels. The series also holds drafts of many essays and lectures by Wilder, as well as copies of writings by others, most but not all Wilder-related.
Series III, Personal Papers, includes journals, autobiographical notes and notebooks kept by Wilder; numerous awards and honors bestowed on him; papers relating to his education and career as a university lecturer; research notes on Finnegans Wake; his military service papers; and some financial and travel records. Series IV, Printed Material, consists of newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and an extensive run of theater programs for plays attended by Wilder and his sister Isabel.
Series V, Photographs, primarily contains portraits of Wilder taken throughout his life, including some of his stage appearances and a variety of publicity shots. There are also photographs of family and friends and production photographs for several plays.
Series VI, Memorabilia and Other Papers, contains artwork, other realia, and musical scores by Louise Talma and others. Series VII, Audio Tapes and Other Recordings, consists of a variety of sound recordings received with the Wilder Papers, including interviews and readings. Series VIII, Thornton Wilder Papers Addition, contains a small amount of family correspondence received after the collection had been processed.

A collection of personal papers, most dating from the end of Klingsor's life, including: letters from Maurice Carême, George-Day, André Ruyters, and Charles Vildrac, among others; a notebook containing lecture notes on Marie Nodier and copied poems; a leaf of a manuscript titled "Isolés at Oubliés", three photographs, and four folders of assorted financial papers.

The Vachel Lindsay collection contains original correspondence and manuscripts by early twentieth-century American poet Vachel Lindsay. The collection features letters from Lindsay to poet Sara Teasdale, dating from 1913 to 1931, documenting their early courtship and ongoing friendship. Writings appear to have been sent to Teasdale as enclosures to the letters. There are also letters to Teasdale from Lindsay's widow, Elizabeth Connor Lindsay, following his death in late 1931.

Collection contains letters to and from Victor Hugo, as well as holographs of writings by Hugo. Correspondence includes letters to Hugo from Juliette Drouet, Aleksandr Herzen, comte Léopold Hugo, Jules Janin, Jean Toussaint Merle, and Jules Michelet. Letters from Hugo include letters to Laure Junot, duchesse d'Abrantès, A. de Beauchesne, Alexandre Dumas, and Almire Gandonnière. Writings contain holograph drafts of fragments of several works, including poems from Châtiments and Toute la lyre, fragments of chapters from L'Homme qui rit and Les Miserables, corrected proofs for several pages of Napoléon le petit, and a holograph of the play "Irtamène."

Collection contains correspondence, writings and additional materials. Correspondence includes letters written by Violet Trefusis to Vita Sackville-West during the 1910's and 1920's concerning their relationship, Trefusis's feelings towards Sackville-West, and the affair's effects on Trefusis's relationship with her husband, Denys Trefusis, her relationship with her mother, Alice Keppel, and Sackville-West's relationship with her husband, Harold Nicolson. Also included are letters by Trefusis to her friend Pat Dansey, and letters from Pat Dansey to Vita Sackville-West. Writings consist of poems and other writings by Trefusis and Sackville-West, and a diary by Trefusis dated May 1905. Additional materials contain two photographs of Vita Sackville-West and a metal bullet of unknown origin.

The Wallace Stevens collection contains material donated to the library by Wallace Stevens, his daughter Holly Stevens, the Rev. John Curry Gay, and others. The Wallace Stevens gifts include one typed letter signed from Stevens, one manuscript by Stevens, "A Collect of Philosophy," and a bound copy of a score presented to Stevens by Jan Wisse. The Holly Stevens gift consists of a setting draft and galley and page proofs for the Letters of Wallace Stevens (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1966). The Rev. John Curry Gay gift contains writings, letters, and other material, including discarded drafts to poems, most of which appeared in Harmonium (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1923). Materials from other sources include one letter, two drafts, and a publicity photograph.

The Walter Lowenfels Papers document the life and work of the writer, journalist, editor, activist, and member of the Communist Party USA, Walter Lowenfels. The papers consist of correspondence, writings, writings of others, photographs, personal papers, printed material, and other papers spanning the years 1897-1979, with the bulk of the material dating from 1930-1976. Correspondence, writings, and writings of others comprise the bulk of the papers. The correspondence records his personal and professional relationships and chronicles his 1953 and 1954 trials for sedition and conspiracy and his publication process. Writings document Lowenfels's work as a writer, editor and anthologist, including drafts of his prose, poetry, drama, essays, and articles. The writings also document his work for the Pennsylvania edition of the Daily Worker. The writings of others reveal Lowenfels's work editing anthologies and collections of works by other writers. Photographs include snapshots of Lowenfels, his family and friends, his home and other subjects. Printed material contains clippings, tearsheets, ephemera, and other printed material concerning Lowenfels and other subjects of his interest. A small amount of personal papers includes biographical information and files on his finances and estate.

The Whitman collection consists of letters, manuscripts, photographs, artwork, and personal papers documenting the life and work of Walt Whitman. There is personal and business correspondence from Whitman to family, friends, editors, and publishers, including Richard Maurice Bucke, John Burroughs, Julius Chambers, Moncure Conway, Nathan Hale, James R. Osgood and Company, George Routledge & Sons, William Sloane Kennedy, William Michael Rossetti, John Swinton, and Louisa Whitman. There are letters to Whitman from Civil War soldiers and from a number of writers, including Samuel Clemens, John Camden Hotten, William Douglas O'Connor, Allen Thorndike Rice, and Algernon Swinburne. There is also a small group of third-party correspondence to Whitman scholar George Rice Carpenter.
Whitman's writings are well represented in the Rabinowitz and Van Sinderen gifts. The Writings subseries in the Van Sinderen gift includes subdivisions for autobiographical writings, diaries, lectures and speeches, notes and notebooks, outlines and proposals, poetry and the writing of others. The writings are present chiefly in galley proofs, many corrected and signed, and holograph manuscripts.
Photographs and artistic representations of Whitman include work by well-known nineteenth century photographers, studios, and artists. There are photographs by Thomas Eakins, William Kurtz, Major & Knapp Engraving, and Brady National Photographic Art Gallery. Works of art include a bust of Whitman by Samuel Murray, a woodcut by Bertrand Zadig, and engravings by Samuel Hollyer, William James Linton, and Stephen Alonzo Schoff. Also of note are papers relating to George Whitman and New York Civil War regiments.
