The Livingston Family Papers spans the eighteenth through the twenty-first centuries, and represents six generations of descendants of John Livingston (1750-1822) of Oak Hill and their relatives by marriage in the Curran, Mulford, Hopkins, and Rogers families. The correspondence, legal and land records, photographs, diaries, scrapbooks, graphics, ephemera, and printed material chronicle the families' business and social lives, travels, interests, and investments. Also documented are their participation in local government, their service in the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II, and their decades of student and alumni involvement with Yale University. Among the papers are deeds, ledgers, indentures, and other business records, which provide detailed accounts of the Livingstons' financial transactions and land holdings, with particular regard to their Oak Hill Iron Mining and Paramount Oil companies, and to their ancestral estate, Oak Hill, all situated along the Hudson River in New York State's Columbia County.

The collection consists of general files, correspondence, subject files, publicity files, scripts, journals, writings, personal papers, photographs, audiovisual material, and born digital materials relating to The Living Theatre, its founders, Julian Beck and Judith Malina, and its co-director, Hanon Reznikov. The collection documents the adminstration of the theater, its stage productions, and its relationship to other avant-garde and radical cultural and political movements in the United States and Europe during the time period from the 1960s to the present. Also included are extensive diaries and journals of Judith Malina and Julian Beck, as well as their personal papers and writings. The photographs and audio-visual material largely document specific productions.

The Lloyd Richards Papers document the life and work of the director, educator, and actor Lloyd Richards. The papers consist of production files, professional papers, photographs, correspondence, programs, audiovisual and printed material spanning the years 1944 to 2004.
The papers primarily document the professional life of Lloyd Richards through his production files, professional papers, and Eugene O'Neill Memorial Theater Center administrative files. Production files contain materials from all stages of production for theater, television, and radio productions directed by Richards, including those he drafted while Dean of the Yale School of Drama and Artistic Director of the Yale Repertory Theatre, and in a few instances for early plays that Richards acted in. Correspondence in the production files reveals the close professional relationship that Richards had with playwright August Wilson through directing six of Wilson's plays. Professional papers include files from Richards's service on various committees, boards, councils, and related activities; his teaching files from positions at universities and colleges; his speeches and lectures; awards and honorary degrees; clippings and printed material; and other papers related to his professional life. The Eugene O'Neill Memorial Theater Center material consists of administrative files and photographs that document his work as Artistic Director of the National Playwright Conference and his involvement in other Center activities.
The papers also include correspondence with organizations and individuals, almost entirely regarding his professional affiliation with various theater projects. Photographs in the collection provide images of Richards, productions, award and honorary degree ceremonies, and other places and people. Audiovisual materials include film, video and sound recordings and film footage of productions, interviews, and other recordings of interest to Richards. A small amount of personal papers concern Richards's service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, his citizenship, financial and medical information, and other personal matters.

The collection documents the life and career of Lucy Kramer Cohen, particularly her work for several federal agencies, contributions to The Handbook of Federal Indian LawThe Handbook of Federal Indian Law, and her political and advocacy work. Professional papers document Kramer Cohen's work for the Department of the Interior, Department of Agriculture, National War Labor Board, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Department of Labor, National Science Foundation, Public Health Service, Helen Gahagan Douglas, and Human Relations Area Files. The collection also contains writings by Kramer Cohen and her husband Felix S. Cohen and correspondence concerning Lucy Kramer Cohen's editing of her husband's writings and management of his literary estate. Also present are correspondence, reports, clippings, and printed material concerning the Cohens' involvement with various political and social causes. Material relating to Kramer Cohen's art projects includes correspondence and notes documenting her work with Italian artist Pietro Lazzari. Finally, personal and family papers include personal correspondence, photographs, and memorabilia concerning the Cohens, their daughters, and their extended family.

The collection consists of material created and accumulated by Manet Harrison Fowler and her daughter Manet Helen Fowler. The Manet Harrison Fowler material documents her work as a singer, musician, and educator with the Mwalimu School and the Texas Association of Negro Musicians. The Manet Helen Fowler material documents her various research and professional activities with the Tarrant County Black Historical and Genealogical Society and other organizations. Material includes photographs; printed material relating to the Mwalimu School and sound recordings of the Mwalimu Festival Chorus; programs for performances by and sound recordings of Manet Harrison Fowler; and original oil paintings by Manet Harrison Fowler. Also included are correspondence, research files, and personal papers of Manet Helen Fowler. The collection provides documentation of African American musicians and music education, particularly African American women musicians and teachers, during and after the Harlem Renaissance.

The papers provide insight into the personal and professional life of Mardette Perkins, American actress and poet, and consist of correspondence, drafts of writings, clippings, ephemera, computer media, and audiovisual material dating from 1942 to 1996. Perkins' acting career is represented in photographs, clippings, ephemera, and a film of her work for television commercials. The papers contain drafts of Perkins' poetry, including an unpublished manuscript for her "Collected Poems, I," and recordings of her reading poetry. The papers also shed light on Perkins' experience of psychoanalysis, detailed in her journals from 1961 to 1976.

The Margaret Croyden papers contain writings, research material, photographs, audiovisual material, and personal papers. Writings include drafts, printed versions, and photocopies of printed versions of reviews and essays on theater-related topics as well as corrected drafts of her fourth book, The Years in Between (Xlibris, 2011). Video recordings appear to date chiefly from Croyden's tenure with the CBS TV series Camera Three during the 1970s. There are audio recordings and other materials relating to theater director Peter Brook and possibly to Croyden's Conversations with Peter Brook: 1970-2000 (Theatre Communications Group, 2003). Other materials in the collection include clippings, computer disks, correspondence, photographs, a laptop, and slides.

The Marguerite Young Papers document the work of writer Marguerite Young. The papers consist of personal and professional correspondence, drafts of writings, audiovisual material, notebooks, research files, printed material, photographs, artwork, realia, and financial papers spanning the years 1925 to 1999. The bulk of the collection consists of Young's drafts of writings, correspondence, and audiovisual material. Writings include autograph manuscript and typescript drafts, printed versions, notes, and notebooks of her writings, including Angel in the Forest: A Fairy Tale of Two Utopias; Miss Macintosh, My Darling; and Harp Song for a Radical: The Life and Times of Eugene Victor Debs. Correspondence includes letters from friends and colleagues regarding her professional and personal life. Audiovisual material consists of sound recordings and one unidentified film, including the 1974 to 1975 radio production of Miss Macintosh, My Darling read by various authors and actors for WBAI-FM Pacifica Radio. Other papers include photographs, clippings, financial papers, personal papers, personal effects, and realia..
