Contains a revised final script for the film, an important low-budget film noir. The film is credited to director Alfred Werker, but it is known that noir savant Anthony Mann shot a large part of it. The screenplay was written by John C. Higgins, and is one of five that Higgins wrote for director Mann. It seems that Higgins' work on this screenplay was augmented and changed before the film was released--this script bears his name alone as a writer, where the film's credits also recongnize Crane Wilbur and Harry Essex. Moreover, the order of events in Higgins' script was changed for the film, and their content elaborated.
