The series contains sermons and sermon notes written by Jonathan Edwards. Four of the sermons listed here are not present in the series, but are represented by an empty envelope. In three of the cases the original manuscript of the sermon is not present in the collection and the original is thought not to survive; in one case the sermon is on the verso of a letter filed in Series I. For the three sermons no longer extant in the collection, the copies referred to in the listing and on the envelopes is the copy by Sereno Dwight in Series III.
