General note

Clippings, editorials, and Opinions focus on the problems of area growth, anticipated in 1957, with the industrialization of the Still River Valley, and construction of Route 7 and Interstate 84. It was apparent there was a need for cost sharing and inter-town cooperation through a regional planning agency. Issues for consideration were transportation, traffic, water, sewer, land fill services, technical schools, nursing/retirement homes, open space, land use, recreation, and Candlewood Lake, Danbury State Teachers College growth, and expansion to better serve the community. construction of Route 7 and Interstate 84.
