General note
Articles cover history of Shepaug Valley Historical Society and the AIAI. Late in the 1960s there became a need to preserve Paleo Indian sites and Indian artifacts in the Housatonic and Shepaug Valleys. Titus Field Project and other archaeological digs were set up to preserve/rescue the heritage of prehistoric Indian culture from growing development and construction. 1974 saw the groundbreaking for AIAI Museum, which is now an active educational research facility supervising digs in the Still River and Housatonic Valleys.
